It’s pretty easy to get the Shelter Key and other hidden items inDeltaruneChapter 3 once you know where to look, but figuring out where to start the search is quite difficult without any help. You’ll also need to score an S-rank on each round of Tenna’s game show to get the Shelter Key and other items, too, so you can lock yourself out of thesecret bossif you’re not careful. Here’s everything you need to know.
How to Get the Shelter Key in Deltarune Chapter 3
The Shelter Key is obtained by completing a secret minigame, which is unlocked by scoring an S-rank on the second round of Tenna’s game show inDeltaruneChapter 3. If you score enough points to get an S-rank, you’ll gain access to a special changing room for the most skilled contestants. It’s the same room where theIce Keyis located.
If you’re struggling to earn enough points for an S-rank on round two of Tenna’s TV Time game show, use the camera to take pictures of the enemies that pop out of trees. They respawn endlessly every time you come back to an area, so keep walking off and on screen to make them appear.
If you’ve already collected the Ice Key, then the process of getting the Shelter Key is basically the same. Head into the S-rank room, talk to the NPC in front of the door, and then head into the back room with the old game console. Another minigame is waiting for you with the Shelter Key at the end.
You’ll find yourself in another Zelda-style minigame where the goal is to kill every enemy. Grab the sword from the cave and get to work. Once you get enough XP to reach level two, take a raft as far north as you can. You’ll eventually bump into a sandbar with a blue door at the far left end. The Ice Key opens this door.
Inside, there are more enemies to kill. You’ll also find a cryptic message telling you to “follow the white cloak.” Keep that in mind, but keep moving for now. At level three, you can chop down the orange things blocking the path forward. Beyond those, you’ll find a white creature that will begin to follow you around. This white creature shoots ice whenever you attack with your sword, allowing you to freeze enemies and push them around to solve button puzzles.
Eventually, you’ll find a crossroads. This is where you need to “follow the white cloak.” There’s a single correct path through the crossroad maze, and the white creature will stop following you if you start heading the wrong way. If the creature keeps walking with you, you’re going the right way. Use the white cloak’s guidance to reach the blue door at the end of the maze.
The Ice Key will be consumed to open the door, and you’ll find yourself in a black void on the other side. Walk around for a while, and you’ll find the Shelter Key on the floor. The minigame will kick you out at this point, so it’s time to continue with Tenna’s game show and complete the final stretch ofDeltaruneChapter 3.
