Rune Factory: Guardians of Azumahas a number of different bachelors and bachelorettes that players can befriend and woo during their time in the game. Eventually, they’ll likely settle on one character they want to commit to, and that’ll be when it’s time to pop the important question and think about the future. In this guide, I’ll explain everything you need to know abouthow to get married and have a child inRune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, including where to find Wisteria required for the marriage process.

How to Get Married in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

Time to Pop the Question

After you’vefinished the romance processby completing all the bonding quests and have reached bond level 10 with a character, Woolby will tell you about Fateweaver Shrine the following day. This is an important location in the process of marrying someone, but first you’ll need to get a Red Plum Tree Branch and some Divine Spirits.

The red plum tree branch simply requires you to plant a tree behind the Dragon Shrine in any of the villages. Woolby will give you this, so this is very straightforward. The tree itself takes about five in-game days to fully grow before you can harvest the red plum tree branch. So plant it as soon as you’ve finished the conversation with Woolby.

The Divine Spirits is a recipe you’ll make with Rice and Wisteria. Rice can easily be grown in the Autumn village, but Wisteria is a little bit trickier to find (I’ve explained the specifics of where to find it below should you be having trouble). Divine Spirits are crafted like any other cooking recipe in the game, at a fire and by selecting it from the menu.

Once you have both of these items, find the character you want to marry and invite them to Fateweaver Shrine. After some cutscenes, you’ll have successfully married the character and will then see you and your spouse go around the various villages getting congratulated by the different characters in the game.

The character you married will now sleep in the shrine with you. Speaking to them each morning will give you a meal, which can be handy for healing your character after battles, or it can besold for some extra money.

How to Get Wisteria in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

Troublesome to Track Down

Wisteria is a type of tree, whose blossom can be obtained from chopping it. While it is possible to plant a Wisteria tree in any of your villages, when I did, the tree wouldn’t give me Wisteria and only added wood to my inventory. Instead, I got Wisteria by going to the Flowering Village. This is an island in the sky that you’ll visit as part of the main quest, but you can revisit it at any time by using the ‘Warp Submenu’ option when looking at the map by pressing X on Xbox, Square on PlayStation, and Y on Nintendo Switch.

When here, look for a log icon on your map. There is one directly north of where you land on the island. Go and chop it and you should get at least one Wisteria from it.

It can also be obtained from the Spring Highlands. Lok for the trees with pink blossoms that droop down (shown in the screenshot above).

How to Have a Child in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

A New Addition to the Family

After five in-game days of being married to your new partner, they’ll speak to you when you wake up in the morning and ask for your opinion on having a child. If you agree with them, you’ll then go to the Fateweaver Shrine again and pray. After five in-game days have passed, you’ll ask your spouse to revisit the Fateweaver Shrine and pray again, at which point Woolby will reveal that you’re actually pregnant.

At this point, your partner will ask if you have a preference about whether the child is a boy or a girl. Your decision here will determine what gender baby you have, so choose wisely. You can also choose ‘Either will make me happy’ and the game will choose at random.

They’ll also ask you what you think they’ll be like. These may change the personality of your child somewhat, but it won’t make a major difference to the story or ending, so don’t worry too much about what you choose here.

Five days after this conversation, your baby will be born. You’ll get to choose its name and watch it grow up in the days and seasons that follow. They’ll become a character that you may build a bond with in the ‘Profile’ screen, too.

Your child will never grow older than Suzu, so will remain at that young child phase indefinitely from my experience in the game. However, I have not played for multiple years in the game, so there is a chance that this does change if you invest hundreds of hours and advance time significantly.
