Flour Sand is one of the many resources inDune: Awakeningthat’s used to craft all sorts of gear. However, unlike Copper Ore or Iron Ore, Flour Sand can’t be gathered by breaking open rocks. A greater risk is involved when gathering this material, but in time, players should be able to safely get as much Flour Sand as they want without fearing death (much).

Despite initial impressions, Flour Sand is actually quite easy to get. Granted, players need to make somedecent progress inDune: Awakeningbefore they can harvest Flour Sand in bulk. Here’s what you need to do to get started.

Dune: Awakening Collecting Flour Sand

How to Gather Flour Sand in Dune: Awakening

Instead of mineral ore nodes, Flour Sand is gathered from patches of white, powdery sand in areas beyond Hagga Basin South. Vermiliius Gap has several Flour Sand patches near its border with Hagga Basin South — keep an eye out for clouds of white smoke coming from the ground, or check your map to see if you’ve spotted any Flour Sand patcheswhile exploring with your Sandbike.

you may gather Flour Sand inDune: Awakeningby hand. However, this is an extremely slow process, and you’ll risk getting attacked by a sandworm while doing so. If you want to speed the gathering process up, you need to finish the Second Trial of Aql andcraft yourself a Static Compactor.

Dune: Awakening Static Compactor harvesting sand

The Static Compactor is a staff-like gathering tool designed for collecting Flour Sand and Spice. It compacts those resources into cubes that are easier to gather, drastically cutting down gathering time. To get one, you’ll first need to complete the Second Trial of Aql for the Static Compactor Schematic. Then, you’ll need the following materials:

You can find Iron Ore nodes all over Vermillius Gap, and you can get EMF Generators byraiding Moisture-Sealed Cavesfound all across Arrakis.

Static Compactors are noisy and will attract sandworms. Still, they’re more efficient than your bare hands.

Other Flour Sand Sources

If you want to get Flour Sand without manually harvesting it, you can always raid some NPC camps in Vermillius Gap. Enemies have a decent chance at dropping Flour Sand, and so do the containers in the camps themselves. The bigger the camp, the more resources you’ll get.

Alternatively, you may buy Flour Sand from merchants or other players via The Exchange, the player-run market that can be accessed by visiting Harko Village or Arrakeen.
