Wood is everywhere inTainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, but players can’t just go and chop down the trees they find, nor can they pick up any sticks or shrubs as you would in a survival game. As agame in the same vein asSkyrim,Tainted Grailalso uses interactible objects, loot containers, and vendors to store the plethora of usable items that players can get.
Not being able to get Wood from trees is disappointing, but luckily,Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon’salternative is much more convenient. If you’re looking to get Wood for crafting, gold, or any other purpose, here’s an easy way to get tons of it.
Where to Find Wood in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
you may pick up Woodin the world or in loot containerslike crates and chests, and most (if not all) blacksmith NPCs should have a decent stock of Wood in their inventories for sale. However, if you don’t want to scavenge or spend money,you can get Wood by using Lumbering Spots, which are basically chopping blocks for logs.
There’s a Lumbering Spot at the keep in the Horns of the South, right in front of the Keeper barracks' archery range, but before you can use it, you’ll need a Woodcutting Axe. These can also be found on the world or bought from merchants. Orlaith, the vendor near the keep’s main gate,should have tools for mining, woodcutting, and other activities for sale.
Lumbering Spots have a finite number of logs that you can chop up, and every swing of your axe will yield 3 Wood. Thankfully,Lumbering Spot logs get replenished on a daily basis.Set up a bonfirenext to the Lumbering Spot, and once you run out of logs to chop, rest for 24 hours. Two and a half logs should have respawned by then, and if you want to chop more, just rest for another 24 hours.
Wood is used for a number of Handcrafting recipes, with the most notable ones being axes, spears, shields, and arrows. This is important because if you plan on increasing your Handicrafting skill, you’ll need to make a lot of items that don’t require any rare materials. Crafting can fail in this game, and if you end up with a pile of junk, you’d have wasted all the resources you used to make it.
One neat tipplayers should know is that every unit of Wood also sells for 1 Gold. You can theoretically get an unlimited amount of money by chopping and selling wood, but this is far too slow of a method. It’s great for getting that extra bit of gold you need for a purchase, though.
