Nightreignis a new take on the world ofElden Ring.It delivers gameplay mechanics that are very different from the original game, which is probably the reason behind its mixed reception. However, the game is still a worthy experience that keeps players entertained for a long time, especially those with a love for teamwork.
Instead of offering players full control over their character progression,Nightreigncomes with a bunch of pre-built Nightfarers, each of whom has unique abilities. Each hero also features a Remembrance questline, which includes a number of personal objectives that allow the hero to reach their full potential and resolve their past. One of these Nightfarers is the Executor. For players who want to complete his Remembrance questline, here’s everything you need to know.
Unlock The Journal
Before you can access the Remembrance questline, you will need to unlock the journal, which is an interactable spot in the Roundtable Hold.Completing an Expedition either with success or failure will unlock the Journal. The game will refer to it as a location where you can use memory fragments to travel back in time and play the character’s memories.
Each character has their own Remembrance questline, and finishing it will reward players with theRemembrance skinfor the corresponding character. However, there are other rewards along the way for each quest, making them worth playing.
How To Collect Memory Fragments
Once you have the journal unlocked, interact with it at Roundtable Hold. You will have a few pages available based on how much you’ve played the game. To expand the journal, you need to collect memory fragments by completing expeditions.
A successful completion of the expedition and defeating the Nightlord will always grant memory fragmentsand advance the questline (except for the Duchess), unlocking new memories to relive.Sometimes, even failing an expedition can expand the journal, though that will only happen in the initial part of the questline. Later quests will eventually require the player to beat Nightlords and make progress in the overall story of the game.
Beginning Remembrance
When you begin remembrance, you travel back in time, but the player can leave the remembrance whenever they want and return to the present. That being said, there won’t be massive differences between the two timelines. You will always come back to the present if you die or fail an expedition. To resume the remembrance, just head to the journal again.
After starting a remembrance, you will respawn in the Roundtable Hold.To learn about the next objective, check the journal. The first step is speaking withthe Guardian, who is in the same room as the journal. Select"Affirm"while talking to him, then head to the main hall andspeak with thePriestess. She will introduce Personal Objectives as new points of interest in Expeditions.
The Executor’s Remembrance Quest
Chapter 2 Remembrance
For the Executor, the first Remembrance that you’re able to relive is unlocked in Chapter 2 of the journal. Your first task is to begin an expedition and collect a certain type of flower. You can choose any expedition you want, and as long as you get the flowers, the quest will progress regardless of whether you finish the expedition successfully or fail.
Once you drop on the expedition, there will bea new orange icon on the map, indicating the location of the personal objective, which is, in this case, theBlessed Flowers. It won’t be as easy as picking up the flowers, as the player must defeat the boss guarding them first, so make sure to put it as a priority before the night ring starts moving.
Keep in mind that the boss will spawn in the form of an invader once you get close to the flower. You are going to face aStray Bloodhound Knight, and it will be a tough fight, not only because of the boss’s weapon, but also since the fight location is tight, surrounded by cliffs and rocks.
As the name suggests, the boss uses a Bleed weapon that will build up blood loss upon hitting the player. Thankfully, his combos aren’t too fast, but he uses two bleed weapons. Sometimes, while you may think you have time to land a hit before Stray swings her blade, he will actually use his left hand to strike. Make sure to time your moves and be patient with attacks.
The flowers will only be obtainable after defeating the boss. And, it’s worth noting thatthe boss will not drop any loot. You will onlygain Runesfor winning this fight. After you get the flowers, the rest of the expedition doesn’t matter. When you get back to the Roundtable Hold, talk to the Priestess, and she will ask you to give the flowers to Iron Menial.
Head to the room where the merchant jar is located, and you will find a door. Go outside, and you will findIron Menial standing next to a painting. Give the flowers to Iron Menial, then interact with the painting. Once done, a spell will appear next to the Iron Menial. Touch it to conclude the quest. This will send you back to the present, granting two rewards:Executor’s ChaliceandBlessed Flower Relic.
Chapter 6 Remembrance
Completing the previous quest will unlock all the journal pages up to Chapter 5, but the next remembrance to relive won’t be available until Chapter 6. So, you will need toplay expeditions again to earn memory fragments. Defeating a Nightlord guarantees a memory fragment drop. After starting the remembrance, talk to the Priestess again to learn about the next objective. You will be tasked with collecting aGolden Sproutthis time, in a process quite similar to that of the previous quest.
Start an expedition and head to the objective marker. This objective will have you facing anErdtree Avatar. This fight will be easier than Stray Bloodhound Knight, mostly because the Erdtree Avatar is quite slow in his moves, though you should never stand close to him. After killing the boss, collect the Golden Sprout and continue on the expedition until you get back to the Roundtable Hold. Before you give the Golden Sprout to the Priestess, visit the Relic Rite and equip anything necessary for the next battle.
Talking to the Priestess will send you back in time to a final fightagainst the Executor’s nemesis. The boss will be a replica of the Executor himselfwith the same weaponsas the player.
After defeating theExecutor’s Cry, look around, and you will find a glowing light in the air. Move towards it until you spot a small house. Head inside and watch the final scene of the memory. This will put an end to the Executor’s Remembrance questline.
When you return to Roundtable Hold, you will receive the Remembrance skinfor the character as the final reward. You can equip the Remembrance skin via the Garb in Roundtable Hold. Interact with the conclusion spell to go back to the present andreceive the Golden Sprout relicas well. If you are interested in the storyline, check out the journal one last time to read the documents in Chapter 7.
