Elden Ring Nightreign’s Runes are just as important as ever, serving as both your means of increasing your level and as the main currency used by merchants throughout Limveld. While you’ll get a healthy amount of Runes normally, it’s possible to increase your Rune Acquisition considerably by taking advantage of certain items and environmental elements.
Elden Ring Nightreignintroduces a variety of plants scattered throughout Limveld, offering a variety of effects ranging from HP and FP restoration to, as noted earlier, Rune Acquisition boosts. The ever valuable Gold-Pickled Fowl Feet continue to be a valuable source of Rune Acquisition buffs too, and you might even get lucky with weapon passive effects or special effects acquired after defeating certain bosses, as this guide will explain.
Using Plants in the Environment
Much like restoring HP, restoring FP, or curing conditions, you can increase your Rune Acquisition temporarily by taking advantage of certain plants found throughout Limveld. In this case, you’ll want to look for these bush-like plants with glowing orange “fruit”, which tend to appear more often near Spiritsprings, based on our experience so far. Interacting with it will increase your Rune Acquisition for a time, much like using a Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot.
Since each member of your team can use this plant, it’s worth activating it as you pass it whenever you see one, to get extra runes as you take down enemies and especially bosses.
Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot
The Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot is a classic that fans of Elden Ring will be very familiar with. This item increases your Rune Acquisition for a time when used, so activating it just before a boss dies will guarantee you a decent chunk of runes. Unlike in Elden Ring, you won’t be hunting down birds and pickling the feet yourself, instead relying on a little luck to find them inside chests and when breaking crates.
Gold-Pickled Fowl Feet are a reliable way of boosting Rune Acquisition when slaying a boss, so it’s worth keeping a few on hand for when you face a boss, especially if you’ve got a Relic effect that spreads item effects to nearby allies, allowing you to share the benefits at the end of a difficult fight.
Passive Effects & Special Effects
Another way you can increase Rune Acquisition in Elden Ring Nightreign is through passive effects on weapons and special effects obtained from “Dormant Power” that spawns when a boss or tough enemy is defeated. While uncommon, it’s possible to find Rune Acquisition-boosting effects on weapons randomly, and as special effects applied to your character by Dormant Power.
While we’ve been unable to confirm this at the time of writing, it’s also likely that Relic Effects that boost Rune Acquisition can be found, though, as the Relics you acquire are mostly randomized (excluding a certain key item), we’ve not had much luck finding any just yet.If you have the Murk to spare, you could try buying the randomized relics from the Small Jar Bazaar until you get something useful, though you’ll likely want to save your Murk for other things early on.
