InRematch, players will likely find themselves being tackled a lot, via bothstanding tackles and slide tackles. This guide will explainhow players can avoid tackles inRematch, although the best advice is usually to pass, as that’s the only way to win.
How To Avoid Tackles In Rematch
The best way tolearn how to dribble inRematchand hold onto the ball is to go into thepractice menu and select Movement. The tutorial is great, but even better are the practice drills known asGates TrackandProtect Ball.
There’s alsofreeplay where players can mess around with the ballas much as they like and experiment.
Push The Ball Forward
When players control the ball, they are vulnerable to tackles, but if they release it, they are invincible. Bypressing A/Cross/Spacebarwhile sprinting, the ball will be pushed forward, increasing speed and making it harder to be tackled.
This is taught very early on in the tutorial, butmany players forget about itand don’t realize how helpful it is. The part of the movement tutorial where players have torace through a closing gatehammers home the importance of pushing the ball.
You can alsopush the ball sideways or backward, with this essential acting as a cutback or chop. This can be good for avoiding slide tackles or getting past defenders in front.
Pass Off The Wall To Yourself
Before a tackle comes sliding in,pass forward off the wall to yourself, and then run onto it. Players can also pass to teammates off the wall, including long kicks that potentially set them up for shots.
Pass is X/Square/Right Click.
Pass To Others
If players find themselves constantly being tackled all the time, this probably means they aren’t passing enough.Passing is key inRematch, andplayers will lose if they always hog the ball.
Players should also try topass immediately instead of taking a touch, as this means they are less likely to be tackled. To do this, simplyissue the pass command before the ball arrives.
Alter Your Pace
If you’re dribbling at the same speed, thedefenders will be easily able to time their tackles. Try slowing down and having bursts of speed to throw them off. This can work against keepers, too.
Use Rainbow Flicks To Go Past Them
Rainbow Flicks aren’t just for looking fancy, as they can take the ball over a defender, especially one who is sliding in. However, theyshould also not be overused, as it’s easy for players to lose the ball midair.
To perform rainbow flicks, pressRight Bumper + A/Crosson thecontroller or C on the Keyboard.
These same buttons can also be used tocontrol and nudge forward the ballwhile receiving it from a long high pass or something similar.
Use The Skill Stance
One of the best ways to not get tackled inRematchis to use theskill stance. Enter this byholding the Left Trigger or Left Ctrl. Players can then pressA/Cross or Space to perform skills, whilst also using the movement controls.
Confuse defenderswith these skills and glide past them, but don’t do them too much as you’reslowed down and easy to catch from behindor the sides.
Listen & Look At The Minimap
Part of keeping the ball isbeing aware of the surroundings. Listen out for defenders closing in from behind or the sides, and also use the minimap.
