Elden Ring Nightreignuses the same array ofstatspresent in the original game. However, things work a little differently here. Since you may’t choose which stats to increase when you level up, buildcrafting becomes somewhat limited, and this can drastically affect how strong your Nightfarer can get while running an Expedition.

Stats determine how well your character uses certain weapons andspells inElden Ring Nightreign. While you can mostly ignore how stats work, you’ll want to know how they affect your character if you want to make the most out of what they have to offer. Here’s a brief rundown on how stat scaling works in this game.

How Do Stats Work in Elden Ring Nightreign?

As mentioned, players can’t choose what stats to improve when leveling up. Instead, the game automatically allocates points to stats like Strength and Dexteritybased on the character that you are using. Every character in the game haspredetermined stat scaling values, and these determine how well characters scale with specific stats as they level up.

The better the scaling a character has for a stat, the more damage they’ll deal with weapons that also scale with that same stat. For example,Executor has an S-rank scaling with Dexterity. At level 15, with the basic Dagger (which has anS scaling in Dex) as a weapon,he deals 88 damage per hitto the wooden training dummies in the Sparring Grounds. Meanwhile, Duchess, who has a B scaling in Dex,only hits for 73 damageon the same target with the same weapon.

Essentially, a character’s stat scaling rank determines a character’s starting stats and how many invisible points are invested into those stats as they level up. There’s currently no way to see the actual numbers themselves, but the letter grading system is more than enough to give players a general idea.

Weapon Scaling Values

Like the original game, every weapon inNightreignscales off of different stats. Large weapons typically scale with Strength, finesse-based weapons scale with Dexterity, Sorceries scale with Intelligence, and so on. You can view the scaling values of weapons byviewing them in the Visual Codex.

Executor’s special Cursed Sword appears to scale off Dexterity and Executor’s level itself.

Which Weapons Should You Use?

Ideally, the best weapons for a Nightfarer arethe ones that scale best with their main stats. Using the same examples above, the Executor works best with Dexterity-based weapons and some Seals, since Beast/Dragon Incantations scale off of Arcane. Meanwhile, Duchess scales best withDexterity-based weapons and Magicthanks to her B-scaling in Dexterity and A-scaling in Intelligence.

While most Nightfarers have preferred weapons, players shouldn’t restrict themselves to using only those. The in-game item tooltips will take your character’s stats into consideration, which means whatever attack value you see there already reflects your character’s effectiveness with that weapon.

Don’t be dissuaded if a weapon’s tooltip or the Status screen show low attack values. The damage on such weapons is often compensated for by status effects or Weapon Arts.
