Miasma is a new mechanic introduced inZenless Zone Zero 2.0that adds an extra layer to the game’s combat and exploration. It’s essentially Ether in gas form, and it can spell trouble for you and your team if you don’t know how to interact with it.
Players will encounter Miasma as a mechanic from enemies and locations likethe Hollow Central Production Area inZZZ.Apart from hindering your progress in some maps, it can prove to be quite deadly in a fight. Here’s how Miasma works and how you can deal with it.
What Does Miasma Do in Zenless Zone Zero?
In combat, Miasma does two things, and its effect changes based on who’s affected. For enemies, Miasma coalesces intoa Miasma Shield, which increases the DMG Reduction and Anti-Interruption level of the enemy that has it. While a Miasma Shield is active, the affected enemycannot be stunned.
Miasma Shields can be broken through regular attacks, and when they do break, the enemy will getPurified— they willtake a large amount of damage, and your agents will geta chunk of their Energyor Adrenaline back, letting you pile on even more damage after the shield breaks.
Miasma Pools empower or interact with specific enemies in unique ways. Take them out first!
Meanwhile,Miasma will initially do nothing to team members. Instead, a meter will appear on the bottom of your screen. If this meter is filled up, all team members will take damage based on their current HP.
How to Counter Miasma
Miasma Shields aren’t entirely new. In a way, they’re like a secondary health bar that absorbs a portion of your damage. However, since enemies with Miasma Shields cannot be stunned, the only way to get rid of them isthrough sheer brute force. WIth that in mind, here are some things to take note of:
Miasma will build if agents stay in toxic fog or are hit with certain attacks. In some areas, there will be some devices that will clear Miasma build up from your characters, but in other types of content like Shiyu Defense or Deadly Assault, such devices won’t be available.
During Story/Exploration mode, Miasma can form obstacles that can impede your progress. These can be dissolved using the Disintegration technique taught by Yixuan during the 2.0 story.
