Hollow Knight: Silksongis one of the most anticipated games in recent memory, with many fans hoping it will appear at the Xbox Games Showcase. And in a way, it was. While showing off the Xbox Ally, fans could see cards depictingHollow Knight: Silksong. Unfortunately, there was no real news to be had.
Seeing it ever so briefly at the showcase likely raised hopes, if nothing else. After all,Summer Game Fest did something similar withResident Evil: Requiem. An early fakeout announcement, which turned out to be a Capcom Sale, turned into a real announcement later in the show. That didn’t happen here, meaning fans have no moreHollow Knight: Silksongnews than they did before.
Of course, neither Team Cherry nor Xbox said it would be there. It was just a hope against hope, but seeing it in any capacity but not revealing theHollow Knight: Silksongrelease dateis only going to make anticipation worse and not better. This is especially true after it was confirmed to release in 2025 for the Nintendo Switch 2 as well, but it has been delayed before. Late 2025 is possibly the earliest with all of this in mind, but ultimately, there’s really no hard evidence of anything forHK: Silksong.
TheXbox Games Showcasewas really the last chance forHollow Knight: Silksongamong ongoing events. It could, in theory, appear elsewhere this weekend and coming days, but that is unlikely. With the summer wrapped up andHollow Knight: Silksongdeserving of a big stage, it’s unlikely Team Cherry will just drop it on a random Tuesday. Perhaps the next hope for fans will be at Gamescom in August.
