Summary
Hitman: World of Assassinationplayers will get the chance to assassinate none other than Le Chiffre, the iconicJames Bondfranchise villain. Before appearing inHitman: World of Assassination, Le Chiffre was played by Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen inCasino Royale, the 2006 spy thriller that also saw Daniel Craig debut as James Bond.
Hitmanseries developer IO Interactive is on a roll, thanks in part to relaunching the now-iconic assassination sandbox series as the massiveHitman: World of Assassination. Collecting the games of the already-substantialHitmanreboot trilogy under one banner, IO adopted a live service model to continually add new activities and targets to keep players engaged. The attempt has paid off, as theHitmanseries recently passed a milestoneof more than 75 million players. Even years after the original games were released, the series also stays at the top of headlines thanks to new additions, such as limited-time events and celebrity cameos.
The latest celebrity to be added toHitman: World of Assassination’s target list isMads Mikkelsen as Le Chiffre fromCasino Royale. Formally known as “The Banker,” Le Chiffre appears as the host of a high-stakes poker game in Paris, held at the Casino Monarchique. The setup for the in-game Elusive Target hunt is a clear reference to Le Chiffre’s role inCasino Royale, where he hosts a poker game at the titular Montenegro casino that James Bond then attends. TheHitmanstage also features voicework from Mikkelsen, who refers to Agent 47 as “Reaper.” As with other Elusive Targets, Le Chiffre will be accessible for a limited time, withHitmanplayers able to hunt him down until Jul 10, 2025.
Hitman: World of Assassination Adds Mads Mikkelsen as Le Chiffre in New Elusive Target Hunt
While the Elusive Target hunt is playable for free during the event period, players who have some cash to spare can also spend about $5 USD to avail themselves of The Banker Pack DLC, which will unlock the contract permanently. The DLC also includes a new suit for Agent 47, two additionalHitmanweapons, and a number of cosmetics for the in-game Freelancer Safehouse.
The addition of a notable Bond villain to the target lineup is a celebration of a different project from IO Interactivedirectly involving theJames Bondfranchise. That project was revealed as007 First Lightduring the recent Sony State of Play broadcast. IO Interactive also said that Le Chiffre’s addition kicks off a newHitman: World of Assassinationseason, called the Season of the High-Stakes, which will add three new challenges, four Featured Contracts, and eight returning Elusive Targets over its run.
With the addition of Le Chiffre and the open celebration of IO Interactive’s newJames Bond-themed work, the latestHitmantarget could open the door for more tie-ins with007 First Light. And if it proves a success, more Bond crossovers could also make their way intoWorld of Assassination.
