Developer Sunblink has released update 2.6.1, called Under the Sea Celebration, forHello Kitty Island Adventureon Apple Arcade. This is the first update forHello Kitty Island Adventuresince the maximum number of visitors allowed on players' islands was increased in April.
Hello Kitty Island Adventuremade its debut on Apple Arcade in July 2023 andbecame available on Nintendo Switch and PC in January 2025. This expansion to new platforms allowed more players to experience the game and attracted a number of new fans. However, not all features from the Apple Arcade version were included at launch, leading to a significantupdate forHello Kitty Island Adventureon PC and Switch that was released in April and May, respectively, introducing improvements to in-game systems.
Now that the Month of Meh featuring Gudetama is coming to a close,Hello Kitty Island Adventureplayers on Apple Arcadewill be heading underwater for a recurring event titled Under the Sea Celebration. FromMay 28 to July 3, players can pop bubbles and collect Mermaid Scales, which can be exchanged for various ocean-themed outfits and gear. This massive content update also brings additional, above-water features for fans ofSanrio’sHello Kitty Island Adventureto look forward to. Though Nintendo Switch and PC players will be able to join in soon, an official release date for the 2.6.1 update for those platforms has not yet been revealed.
Alongside Mermaid Scales,players will be able to experience The Biggest Challenge update. This update includes a new roller coaster ride at Icy Peak, a talent show in City Town, a brand-new type of flower to collect, and a number of additional quests that help immerse players into the world. The Icy Peak ride’s entrance is shaped like the crocodile it is named after, Big Challenges, likely introducing some to one of Sanrio’s lesser-known characters while also offering an exhilarating ride with otherHello Kitty Island Adventurevisitors.
Additionally, those who own a PlayStation may be pleased to learn that there are plans to release the game on PS4 and PS5 before the end of 2025. Eager Sanrio fans will soon be able to spend time with villagers, give gifts to others, enjoy various quests, and even giveHello Kittyfriends cabins they can decorateon Sony’s console.
