Despite selling quite poorly, the sequel to 2017’sHellblade: Senua’s Sacrificewas able to garner very positive reviews, settling at an 81 on Metacritic, the exact same score as its predecessor.
Xbox’s multiplatform strategythat began early last year has been amplified in 2025 and shows no signs of slowing down. Earlier this year saw Bethesda’s hit adventure gameIndiana Jones and the Great Circleland on PlayStation 5 roughly four months after its initial Xbox release. Xbox’s 2021 open world racing masterpieceForza Horizon 5also made the jump over to PS5 this year, making a huge splash on Sony’s platform. Along withGears of War: Reloaded, the second remaster of the originalGears of War, Ninja Theory’sSenua’s Saga: Hellblade 2is also set to arrive on PlayStation 5 later this summer in August.
Ninja Theory has an extra bonus up its sleeves for PS5 owners who buy the Deluxe Edition ofSenua’s Saga: Hellblade 2when it goes live on August 12. The deluxe package will include a new PS5 enhanced edition ofHellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, as well as a digital copy of the original game’s soundtrack. This edition ofHellblade 2will cost an extra $20, andHellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice’s enhanced edition will also be available to purchase on its own. Like the sequel, the originalHellbladealready looks amazing, but it’ll undoubtedly look even better with the help of the PS5 and PS5 Pro.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2is poised to put up spectacular numbers on PlayStation 5 ifIndiana Jones and the Great CircleandForza Horizon 5are anything to go by. Both games dominated the PlayStation sales charts when they arrived, outpacing their initial Xbox and PC sales, with the latter selling over 2 million copies on Sony’s platform.Hellblade 2might not do as well asForza Horizon 5, but considering it’s a style of game much more in-line with many of PlayStation’s celebrated first-party masterpieces likeGod of WarandThe Last of Us, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it do big numbers on the PlayStation sales charts, especially with the enhanced version of the original game launching simultaneously.
Fans are still awaiting official word from Limited Run Games about itsrumored physical edition ofSenua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. If the rumors are true, it’ll be interesting to see whether Limited Run does the same Deluxe edition with the enhanced originalHellbladeincluded. It’ll likely ship after the game’s digital PS5 release, so PS5 gamers who aren’t worried about physical games will only have to wait until August 12 to finally get their hands on Xbox’s cinematic sequel.
