Although it has been just over 14 years since the final film in theHarry Potterfranchise was released, the magic of the movies still remains as popular today as ever before. Now, with a new live-actionHarry PotterTV series on the way, the Wizarding World has been given a fresh coat of paint as it moves onto the small screen. However, before the reboot is released,Gary Oldman, who played the character Sirius Black in fourHarry Pottermovies, finally gets placed into a Hogwarts House, but the actor had no clue how to pronounce his house’s name or even what it meant.

The television adaptation of the world-famous Harry Potter franchise was confirmed by HBO Max in 2023 and is expected to run for a decade, with each season based on one of seven J.K. Rowling books. For those who may not have read the books or have limited knowledge,Harry Potterfollows the story of an 11-year-old orphan boy who gets accepted to Hogwarts, a school of magic, on his eleventh birthday. While there, he learns of his incredible wizarding powers, which are then honed by the headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, as he and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger help Harry in his attempts to defeat the evil Lord Voldemort.Warner Bros is seemingly committed to making the TV adaptation a roaring success from the get-go as it’s reported to cost £1 billion to expand the Leavesden Studios, which will include a real school, brand-new roads, car parks, and even an updated version of Privet Drive, the street where Harry spent his younger years.

Gary Oldman Is Completely Baffled by His Hogwarts House Placement

In a conversation with Happy Sad Confused’s host, Josh Horowitz, Gary Oldman was asked if he had eversorted himself into a Harry Potter house. Oldman, looking very confused, replied, “Have I ever what?” as Horowitz repeated the question to the roaring laughter of the crowd. Oldman revealed that he had no idea what Horowitz was talking about, so, in a bid to get some kind of answer from Oldman, Horowitz listed attributes to determine what house he might fall into. “Loyalty, hard work, patience, fairness, dedication. Does that describe you?” he asked. Oldman, finally catching on, said that those did sound like his qualities as Horowitz declared thatOldman belonged in Hufflepuff house, with the actor proudly standing up, shouting to the audience, “I’m a Hufflepuff!”

However, upon sitting back down, Oldman said, “A Hufflepuff? I’m in the bloody movies and I can’t pronounce it,” Oldman laughed. “I’m a Huffenpuff? A Hufflepuff. I had no idea I was a Hufflepuff. Have you ever huffled your puff?”. It certainly was a hilarious moment to watch as poor Oldman tried to get to grips with what house he was in, finding it beyond funny how house Hufflepuff was actually pronounced. Although it may seem even longer, Oldman played the role ofSirius Black in theHarry Pottermoviesbetween 2004 and 2011 before reuniting with Daniel Radcliffe for theHarry Potter20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwartsspecial in 2022.
