The following contains spoilers for Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds “Godspawn” and “Repentance.“Guild Wars 2just revealed “Absolution,” the third and final story chapter for theJanthir Wildsexpansion that will take players to the heart of Bava Nisos – and the source of the Titan crisis. This majorGuild Wars 2update launches on June 3, with further events and announcements planned throughout the summer.
InJanthir Wilds,Guild Wars 2fans traveled to the Isle of Janthiron a diplomatic mission that quickly turned dangerous as the fearsome Titans began to appear across the land. After defeating them in the “Godspawn” update, players went to the Mistburned Barrens in “Repentance” in search of the gate they arrived through, which the Titan Ura mentioned with her dying breaths.
Now,Guild Wars 2is preparing to finish this storyline with “Absolution,” the final chapter of the current expansion. After scouring the wastedoutskirts of Bava Nisos inGuild Wars 2’s “Repentance” update, the Wayfinder must delve into the heart of the ruined Mursaat city in order to reach the core of the crisis, close the gate, and end the threat of the Titans once and for all. Left to warp in the magic of the Titans and Mursaat for nearly 300 years, fans can expect vile monsters, surreal landscapes, and otherworldly threats in the thrilling conclusion ofJanthir WIlds.
Guild Wars 2: Janithir Wilds ‘Absolution’ Release Schedule
The Bava Nisos zone itself will contain an epic, map-wide meta-event. Players can join one of three lanes as they push into the heart of the ruined city to close the Mists gate, teaming up with different factions of the Tyrian Alliance, including Councillor Ludo of Rata Sum, and a “spirited guest from Divinity’s Reach’s most elusive social club.”
Several other game improvements arrive in “Absolution” as well. The Mount Balrior raid gets its third Convergences boss encounter in the form of Ura, alongside a challenge mode. The new Kinfall fractal dungeon arrives in the update, with its challenge mode opening on June 24. What’s more, the decoration cap forHomesteads inGuild Wars 2is being doubled to 2,000 items, quality-of-life improvements like the Wizard’s Portal Tome and the Wizard’s Gobbler will simplify inventory management, and plenty of events and activities will take place throughout the summer months.
Were these announcements not exciting enough on their own,Guild Wars 2confirmed it is revealing its next expansion in July. Though it did not share any details as to what it might be, fans won’t have to wait more than a couple of months after the launch of “Absolution” to find out.Guild Wars 2may have delayed its sixth expansion, but that just means ArenaNet will have two more months to ensure what comes next is of a higher quality than it otherwise would have been.
