With itsrumored 2 billion dollar budget,GTA 6is set to make the 2026 release calendar quite interesting. What’s even more compelling, though, is the game’s teased story. Many of the finer details remain under wraps, but one thing has been made clear: the music industry is going to play an important role.

GTA Online: The Contract

SinceGTA Onlinelaunched, the game has continued to bring fresh content updates, with one of the most notable being The Contract. This special mission introduces real-lifehip-hop stars Dr. Dre and Anderson PaaktoGTA Online, as players have to find the former’s missing phone that contains unreleased tracks. The mission eventually leads players back to the studio to watch Dr. Dre and Anderson Paak hop on the mic together and record a song. At the time, this simply seemed like a fun high-profile cameo, but it could have set the stage forGTA 6’s Only Raw Records.

Only Raw Records and Vice City’s Rap Scene

Recently, Rockstar revealedcharacter details forGTA 6, with two of them being Dre’Quan Priest and Boobie Ike. Priest manages Only Raw Records, while Ike serves as the main investor in the business. With local rapper Real Dimez looking for her shot at fame, Only Raw Records seems bound to play an important role in the game’s story.

Rockstar wouldn’t have revealed the names of Priest, Ike, and Real Dimez if they weren’t essential to the plot, so it will be fascinating to see how the music industry is intertwined withGTA 6’s crime story. When describing Priest, Rockstar’s official website states, “Now that he’s signed Real Dimez, Dre’Quan’s days of booking acts into Boobie’s strip club might be numbered as he sets his sights on the Vice City scene.” It’s been confirmed that De’Quan Priest is a former street hustler, while Boobie Ike is the owner of Jack of Hearts, a local strip club. These professions have likely connected the two to some unsavory people throughout the state of Leonida, and that could set up some tension-filled moments that unfold in front of a music-centric backdrop.

The confirmed map locations forGTA 6are Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga.

The GTA Franchise Has Always Been Closely Tied to Music

Throughout the franchise, music has played an important role inGTA. Whether it be through the many radio stations that can be listened to in-game or cameos like Dr. Dre,GTAhas kept a place for music in its world. However, this time around, music gets to be part of the overall story, and that’s a thrilling promise. Even intheGTA 6trailers, the song choices have helped set the tone.

Between an up-and-coming record label andLucia and Jason working toward success,GTA 6is already looking like a story filled with drama. Gamers may have to wait a little bit longer than initially thought, but the details that have been confirmed by Rockstar make it seem likeGTA 6is going to be well worth the wait.
