Summary
Grand Theft Auto 6’s development might be in more trouble than originally thought, at least according to a leaker with a proven track record. Every newGrand Theft Autorelease sends shockwaves throughout the world of gaming, and fans have been eagerly awaitingGrand Theft Auto 6for the past several years. Rockstar finally showed the game off for the first time in late 2023, with a tentative release window suggesting thatGrand Theft Auto 6could come later this year.
However, when the secondGrand Theft Auto 6trailer was released last month, it came with the unfortunate news that the game was being delayed until Jun 20, 2025. This came as little surprise to those familiar with Rockstar’s other works, andTake-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnicklater explained that the developer needed more time to ensure thatGrand Theft Auto 6would live up to fans’ high expectations. Some insiders are already expectingGTA 6to eventually be delayed a second time, and a new report could add more fuel to that speculation.
GameRoll, an insider who has shared information aboutGrand Theft Auto 6in the past, recently revealed further insight into the game’s development on Discord, as reported byDexerto. According to GameRoll, the later parts ofGrand Theft Auto 6’s storyare being reworked, with the final chapter supposedly having been in “development hell” for some time now. Much of this chapter was apparently cut during development, requiring the rework.
Insider Claims GTA 6 Story Is Being Reworked
GameRoll says thatGrand Theft Auto 6’s story will have five chapters in total, one less than 2018’sRed Dead Redemption 2. They further explained thattheGTA 6trailers so farhave featured footage from the game’s first three chapters, and that fans haven’t seen anything from the second half. This would make sense if the latter two sections of that story are still unfinished, but GameRoll is quick to note that their information comes from an indirect source and that it might not be accurate.
GameRoll has made a few correct predictions aboutGrand Theft Auto 6in the past, such as claiming the male protagonist was named Jason before this was officially confirmed in the secondGTA 6trailer. GameRoll’smassiveGTA 6leakshave also hinted at a limited weapon wheel system in the style ofRed Dead Redemption 2, the ability to switch between Jason and Lucia, and the ability to go prone being cut. None of this has been officially confirmed, so fans will have to treat it all with a healthy dose of skepticism as they wait for more concrete news from Rockstar aboutGrand Theft Auto 6.
