Obsidian Entertainment’s recently announcedGrounded 2will have a huge map, as the starting area is reported to be almost the size of the entire previous game.Grounded 2is highly anticipated by gamers who loved the first title, and it appears that its world will offer plenty for players to explore, as well as some interesting new features.
Grounded 2was announced during the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase, surprising fans of the series, who did not expect Obsidian to announce yet another game during the show after releasingAvoweda few months ago. Like the original game,Grounded 2will be released in early access first, and gamers will get to try it on June 22, 2025. As expected,Grounded 2will be a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass, as well.
Obsidian Entertainment has also revealed thatGrounded 2will be much larger than the original title. While the first game took place in a house’s backyard,Grounded 2will begin in a park, which is reported to be almost the same size as the entire map ofGrounded. This is great news for fans, as it’s not difficult to imagine that the game’s entire final map could be at least twice the size of the first one. The new map will feature plenty of grassy areas, but also a frozen area that is actually a toppled ice cream cart, and players can expect even more locales to be discovered. To navigate through this huge world, gamers will also be able to tame insects, using them as transport or to face foes during combat.
Grounded 2’s Starting Zone Is Almost Twice the Size of the Entire First Game’s Map
Hopefully,Grounded 2will have a smooth early access period and keep improving as much as its predecessor did. Despite being released in early access in 2020,Groundedis still releasing new updates in 2025, showing how committed Obsidian is to polishing its games.
Additionally,Obsidian is also set to releaseThe Outer Worlds 2in October. This will be another sequel created by the prolific developer, and it’s set to improve on many aspects of the first game. Obsidian also recently confirmed thatThe Outer Worlds 2will have 12 skills, down from 18 in the first game, streamlining some of the game’s systems. It remains to be seen, however, how the title will compare to its predecessor.
