Summary

Game of Thronesauthor, George R.R. Martin, has finally offered up his heartfelt opinions on theElden Ringmovie and its recently appointed director, Alex Garland. Any fan of Martins or even video games will know by now that a live-action adaptation of Hidetaka Miyazaki’s 2022Elden Ringis in the works by film production company A24 and game publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment. As of writing, not a lot is known about the film, other than theAnnihilationdirector helming the project, and actorKit Connor is being eyed for the lead role.

What fans do know is that the movie won’t be released anytime soon, at least not this year anyway, and that casting for the adaptation hasn’t officially been announced, which is likely to be some time away, also, including any kind of trailer. However, Martin did hint that theElden Ringmovie could be in pre-developmentwhile promoting his upcomingLost Landsproject on Max last month, but it seems likely that his involvement in the film could be kept to a minimum since he has so many other projects on the go, although that hasn’t stopped him before. Toying with fans last year,Martin played coy about the rumors of theElden Ringgetting a film makeover, stating that he knew nothing about it all, which, of course, only added fuel to the fire of the adaptation rumors in the end.
