Summary

Fortnitehas unexpectedly updated the UEFN roadmap with a brand-new shoving mechanic, which could make its way not only to Creative but to Battle Royale as well. Movement has changed a fair bit inFortniteover the years, and most fans would agree that it’s been one of the most important quality-of-life upgrades made to the game. Even thoughFortnitehas been around for nearly eight years, it still receives constant updates to ensure that the game continues to grow and improve while preventing it from becoming stale for veteran players.

The addition of stamina and the ability to sprint were probably themost considerable movement changes made toFortnite, but others were also quite revolutionary. Hurdling and vaulting were added to ensure that gamers who prefer to play Zero Build are able to reach tall structures without having to build up to them, but they were important regardless of whether fans play Build mode or not.

On top of coming up with ideas on how toimprove solo player movement inFortnite, Epic Games is now also trying to upgrade player moves that could impact others. According to an update made to theUENF roadmapon July 07, 2025, Epic will soon be adding a “Shove” mechanic toFortniteCreative in the second quarter of 2025. The description of the “Shove” ability reveals that gamers will be able to push others with a light force.

Shove Mechanic Coming to Fortnite

Epic Games has brought mechanics that affect enemy players before; the Shove ability could be used offensively just like theSlide Kick move inFortnite, which allows the player to kick and inflict damage upon an enemy if they bump into them while sliding. It is possible that gamers could shove an enemy against a wall and hurt them or shove them off a cliff or high enough structure to inflict fall damage upon them.

For now, it is only certain that this mechanic will be available inFortniteCreative- any custom creators will be able to add it to their Islands - but it is unclear if it will eventually make its way into Battle Royale. The Shove ability could lead to some interesting plays, especially in competitive game modes and tournaments. Instead of simply having to watch out for enemies trying to Slide Kick them, players would also have to be cautious of those close enough to shove them, especially when build-fighting on top of a dangerously tall structure.
