Summary
AFortniteplayer clipped a Victory Royale moment where they’re able to capture their opponent celebrating an assumed win that they do not get. Emotes have always been a key feature inFortnite. Players are able to open the emote wheel and choose a dance that expresses their mood. Epic Games takes inspiration for its emotes from just about any type of media, so from classic moves to popular songs and hilarious TikTok videos, players will likely find an emote for them.
While some gamers use emotes to connect with others in the match, some use them to tease enemy players and even gloat after complicated moves and plays that they’re able to pull off. Of course, some players take this more lightly than others. Being emoted on in a moment of frustration can lead to serious gamer rage, especially if it’s a particularly “toxic” emote - this is why Epic Games has added an option tohide confrontational emotes inFortnite.

Some fans are so used toemoting after eliminating an opponent inFortnitethat it’s almost muscle memory coming into play. While it makes for good clips if they succeed, it also leads to the creation of hilarious videos if not. Reddit user The_bombblows12 shared a video of the end game of aFortnitematch where their opponent attempts to take them down while they’re low HP and immediately begins to emote after firing their shot. However, they fail and The_bombblows12 counterattacks before they’re even able to react, leading to an extremely satisfying Victory Royale.
Fortnite Player Emotes Too Soon and Loses the Match
The original poster’s opponent could’ve easily eliminated them and gotten a Victory Royale, as they were 9 HP, but they forgot thatLightsabers are currently available inFortniteand are able to block shots. The_bombblows12 entered a defensive stance with their Lightsaber and avoided all damage from their opponent’s shotgun. Calculating that they would be one-shot, the opponent started to dance, giving The_bombblows12 enough time to hit them with their melee twice and secure the Victory Royale.
The odds were not in favor of the original poster, but they played it smart. It’s by taking advantage of every item’s abilities and not acting on impulse that players are able toobtain a Victory Royale inFortniteeven when they’re at a disadvantage. The opponent let their guard down and chose to emote - perhaps as a reflex - and suffered the consequences as they lost the crown.
