Summary
Even though many were hopeful that it would not be the case with the Switch 2, players will continue to be unable to playFortnite’s Save the World game mode on their new Nintendo systems. Before Battle Royale rose in popularity and took the world by storm, it was just a side mode inFortnite, as Epic Games planned on making Save the World its main game mode. Battle Royale was just supposed to be a fun, free-to-play game mode to catch the attention of potential Save the World players.
In the early days, in order to play Save the World, gamers had tobuy a Founders Pack inFortnite, so it was only available if they purchased it. This is probably why Battle Royale was able to rack up so many players, as it was free of cost. Over time, as the number of Battle Royale players increased, Epic Games realized it was able to make more sales by focusing on coming up with impressive designs for cosmetics and recreating popular dances for emotes rather than trying to promote Save the World. This is why the original game mode was eventually put on the back burner.
Nowadays, there are a handful of major game modes inFortnite. Even though Save the World has not gotten as much attention from the developers as fans would’ve hoped, many stuck by it. Save the World players were quite disappointed whenFortnitereleased for the Nintendo Switchwithout its original game mode. However, they thought the Switch 2 would finally solve this matter, and they’d get to play STW on a Nintendo console at last. Unfortunately,Epic Games has confirmedthat Save the World will not be available on the Switch 2.
Fortnite Save the World Is Not Coming to Nintendo Switch 2
Not too long ago, leaker iFireMonkey dug into the game files and discovered that code for theSwitch 2’s mouse controls had been added toFortnite, but they were disabled for Save the World. The mention of Save the World in the game code led some players to believe that it would be available on the Switch 2. However, others thought that it completely denied the possibility of it happening, as it wouldn’t make sense for these controls to be part of all game modes except one.
Even though it is a fun game mode for the most part, it hasn’t received a lot of new content recently, which has caused many players to lose interest in it, especially those who have been around since day one. Additionally, Save the World Founders suffered a serious nerf to their V-Bucks earnings whenEpic removed daily login rewards. For now, players must have access to a PC, Xbox, or PlayStation if they want to play Save the World. It will remain unavailable on mobile devices, such as Switch, iOS, and Android.
