S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zonehas several mechanics that players will make use of in each of the games featured in it. One such mechanic comes in the form of using the detector to find Artifacts. Hunting Artifacts will allow players to apply different kinds of buffs to their characters.
Some of them will increase how long a player’s character can’t sprint, while another can help them shake off radiation accumulation. Before players can experiment with which Artifacts work best for their playstyle, they will need to know how to find them — which is where the detector comes in.
How to Hunt Artifacts with the Detector in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone
While the detector may have been cut from the originalS.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, the devices have been seen since the first game’s multiplayer mode. These detectors would become a staple mechanicfromClear Skygoing forward. Players might not understand how to use them at first, as the first detector they get has nothing more than a light and a beep sound.
When players leave a safe zone, they should pull out their detector to always have the best chance of stumbling upon a new Artifact. Players will start the game byjoining up with the Clear Sky faction. After leaving this starting location, keep to the left side of the raised grounds of the swamp. Be sure to avoid touching any water, which is teeming with radiation.
Players will also want to get their bolts ready. Throwing these bolts will cause small explosionsshould they touch an anomaly. Armed with their detector and bolts, players will want to navigate along the left path towards their first main objective in the Zone. The detector will start making noises. The more frequently it beeps, the closer players are to the Artifact.
Artifacts are invisible and cannot be interacted with until they appear. Don’t get reckless, as this can cause players to stumble into an anomaly and take unnecessary damage. Always listen for anomalies and test with a thrown bolt before moving forward.
How to Get New Detectors in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone
Players will be able to buy better detectors down the line as they continue to progress through the game. These will make it easier to hunt artifacts within anomalies. Players that want to get a great-quality detector for free can join the Loners faction and complete all their related quests. This will reward them with the Veles Detector that will show them the direction of Artifacts so they don’t stumble around.
Once players are close enough, the Artifact will appear and can be picked up. Not all Artifacts may sound appealing to players, but they should not be hasty in selling them. Instead, pocket all Artifacts that are unique from one another to try out later.
