More than two years after its initial release, thisUniversal Picturesblockbuster is storming up the streaming charts worldwide. It turns out that boasting stars like Alan Ritchson and Jason Statham in forgettable supporting roles can actually be a good thing for your movie.
It took about a decade, but in 2011, theFast & Furiousfranchise kind of came out of nowhere to become Universal Pictures' biggest franchise (astheJurassic Worldserieswas still a few years away).Fast Fivealmost doubled the worldwide gross of the previous series high, and a new, bombastic, massively-budgeted franchise was born. Gone were the days of street racing and low-stakes heists in favor of CGI action setpieces and globetrotting adventures featuring an ever-widening cast of characters. By the time 2015’sFurious 7came out, the list of actors read like anAvengersfilm, and the movie raked in anAvengerslevel of money as well, grossing over $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office. The films have been earning less and less with each new flick over the past decade, but they still make a whole bunch of money every time they come around. Now, the latest one is bringing in the money on streaming platforms as well.
Collideris reporting thatFast Xis burning up the streaming charts worldwide at the moment, which is a bit surprising considering the film is more than two years old at this point. Two Years After Release,Fast XIs Racing Up The Streaming Charts Worldwide
It isn’t all too surprising to findFast Xclimbing the charts, even though the film is more than two years old at this point in time. The cast list is enough to make one’s eyes water. Just look at this: Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno, Jason Statham, Jason Momoa, Charlize Theron, Gal Gadot, and Dwayne Johnson. That is, simply put, an utterly ridiculous amount of star power for any franchise, let alone one single movie. Eat your heart out, Marvel Studios.
Fans also know what they’re getting fromtheFast & Furiousseries nowadays. Even if you’ve skipped out on the past few entries, it’s a safe bet that eachFastfilm will feature big stunts, cool fights, and a whole bunch of talk about what one does for their family.Fast Xis a perfectly mindless action film to put on your favorite streaming platform if you’ve got some household chores to do: you can focus on what you need to get done and dip in and out of the movie for each set piece before getting back to what you’re really supposed to be doing.
