The launch lineup for theNintendo Switch 2is pretty underwhelming, withMario Kart Worldbeing the only big new first-party title for the console upon its release. Thankfully,the Switch 2 is also able to play regular Switch games, meaning that there are technically hundreds of other titles that early adopters can sink their teeth into.
The following is a list of every first-party Switch game that you can play on theSwitch 2, as well as third-party titles based on first-party IP. One or two of them will need to be played using the original Switch’s Joy-Cons, but other than that, they’re fully compatible with the new hardware, and, in most cases, will run a lot better on it, too.
Those who plan on playing first-party Switch games on their Switch 2 may want to considertransferring over their save dataso they can pick up where they left off.

First-Party Switch Games with Minor Compatibility Issues on Switch 2
As mentioned above,a handful of first-party Switch games aren’t fully compatible with the Switch 2. In most cases, it’s a simple case of using the Joy-Cons from your old console, although one or two games have technical issues that are currently being looked into. Nintendo of Japan keeps a comprehensive list of compatibility issueshereand will update the list as and when these problems are resolved.
Game Builder Garagecannot be played with the Switch 2 Joy-Cons.
Nintendo Labo
The Nintendo Switch 2 console and Joy-Cons do not fit into the included cardboard kits.
Nintendo Switch Sports
During soccer matches in “Play with People from Around the World”, the frame rate will be 30 fps.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe
During some scenes in the game, such as the beginning and end of a day, the entire screen flickers for a moment.
Ring Fit Adventurecannot be played with the Switch 2 Joy-Cons.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
In online play, when a Switch 2 player and a Switch player are matched, if one of them is using a Mii Fighter, the match may end immediately.
When creating or modifying a Mii Fighter and saving it, the thumbnail image displaying the Mii Fighter may not be generated correctly. Saving the file again may solve this issue.
