Summary
Hakiis a combat ability inOne Piecethat manifests from an individual’s willpower. It is boiled down into three types. Observation Haki grants its users a sixth sense, which allows them to sense an individual’s presence, and with it certain aspects of their being, in addition to a limited level of precognition if sufficiently powerful. Armament Haki lets its users physically enhance their combat method, be it their bodies or weaponry, allowing them to even attack the likes of otherwise intangible Logia Devil Fruit users. Both of these abilities are ones that everyone can use.
Conqueror’s Haki is a rare form of Haki that only a limited number of people are beholden to. It allows its users to physically manifest their willpower, knocking out or otherwise encumbering enemies with weaker wills. Anycharacter who can use all three forms of Hakihas the potential to be a devastating foe and a strong leader. Although it is possible that many established characters have each ability, this list will focus on thoseconfirmed characters who, at present, can use all three Haki inOne Piece.
Monkey D. Luffy
Straw Hat Emperor
Monkey D. Luffyhas always been an ambitious figure. He began as a rookie captain, rather than starting out on a separate crew as so many other similarly authoritative captains in the present day have. Even prior to consciously using Haki, Luffy’s strong will reared its head in scenarios against enemies and allies alike.
His stubborn manner aided him in felling many foes, and absolutely refusing to give up on his friends, even in cases where they gave up on themselves. Silvers Rayleigh trained Luffy to improve his Haki during the time skip, and he has continued to consciously use and improve it since. Luffy is a leader to his crew, and in a somewhat unofficial capacity, also commands theStraw Hat Grand Fleet, a crew of loyal followers, many of whom he rescued in Dressrosa.
Shanks
Red-Haired Emperor
Shankswas a mentor of sorts to a young Luffy. The boy was awed by Shanks and his crewmates when they docked at Foosha Village. Although Shanks mocked Luffy for being too young to join his crew, he nonetheless cared deeply about Luffy, and even sacrificed his arm to save him from a Sea King (a fact which makes many fans question Shanks’Conqueror’s Haki, which they presume could knock it out).
Nonetheless, Shanks has showcased advanced levels of all forms of Haki, being able to manifest it in combat, knock others out with it, and even utilize it to remotely engage with others from a distance. He even gave Luffy his signature straw hat, a keepsake from his former captain, Roger, whom Shanks saw a lot of the aspiring pirate. In the present day, Shanks' longtime crew, the Red Hair Pirates, are considered a major threat to the government. He also proudly keeps up with the goings-on of Luffy and his crew, despite striving to maintain his distance for the time being.
Gol D. Roger
The Pirate King
Gol D. Rogercaptained theRoger Pirates, a crew that traveled around the Blue Planet and eventually reached Laugh Tale, allowing Roger to claim the One Piece and the title of King of the Pirates. He left a major impression on both those who sailed alongside him and even those who merely met him.
His most notable influence came close to his scheduled execution, when he claimed he had left his treasure in Laugh Tale and that any pirate who claimed it could become the king. This led to a new era of piracy, where many hoped to fulfill their dreams by sailing the high seas. Roger was a skilled Haki user who could even infuse Conqueror’s Haki into physical attacks, as seen in his clash with longtime rival Edward Newgate.
Roronoa Zoro
Master Of The Three-Sword-Style
Roronoa Zorois a descendant of the Shimotsuki Family from Wano, is well-versed in swords, and grew up around others in the diaspora who settled in East Blue. He trained alongside his close friend and distant cousin, Shimotsuki Kuina, who proved stronger than him in combat. The two both pledged that one of them would become the World’s Strongest Swordsman. Kuina’s death devastated Zoro and made him take the pledge extremely seriously from that point on. He even invented the Three-Sword-Style to give himself an extra edge in combat.
Zoro started out as a pirate hunter, but eventually switched to piracy after Luffy freed him from an impending execution. During the time skip, Zoro studied under Dracule Mihawk, the World’s Strongest Swordsman at present. Mihawk mentored Zoro inArmament Haki, even denying the consumption of alcohol until he gained a level of mastery over it. Upon traveling to Wano, Zoro discovered he also possessed Conqueror’s Haki and began to use it against the likes of King, the right hand of the Beasts Pirates.
Monkey D. Garp
A Marine Hero
Monkey D. Garpis Monkey D. Luffy’s grandfather, who trained him alongside his sworn brothers in childhood. His tough-love approach to child-rearing was further complicated by his marine duties, which limited the time he had to take care of Luffy. He had marine aspirations for the likes of Luffy and Ace, which they both rejected for piracy.
Nonetheless, Garp remained a respected marine who was considered a hero for his actions in God Valley, a title he rejects. He was previously a Vice Admiral, repeatedly refusing promotions due to a hatred of World Nobles, and stayed on as an instructor after quitting active duty. He is a mentor to many in the marines, including the likes of Koby, Helmeppo, and Kuzan. Garp makes frequent use of his Haki in addition to his impressive physical strength. Like his grandson, he has a streak of irresponsible stubbornness which makes the extent of his willpower believable.
Portgas D. Ace
Son Of Roger
Portgas D. Acewas the child of the late Gol D. Roger and his lover, Portgas D. Rouge, who died in childbirth. Roger requested that Ace be raised by his longtime rival, Garp, in an attempt to protect his son from the stigma of being a criminal’s child. Ace was raised alongside Luffy and eventually Sabo, with all three coming to regard each other as brothers.
Eventually, Ace set out on his own and formed the Spade Pirates, who eventually integrated into the Whitebeard Pirates, with Ace becoming the crew’s Second Division Commander. Ace was not frequently seen using Haki in his lifetime, largely due to its very limited integration into the storyline at the time of his passing. Extended media, some of dubious canon, identifies him as being able to use all three forms of Haki to varying degrees.
Eustass Kid
Captain Of The Kid Pirates
Eustass Kidwas a gang leader from Kutsukku Island in South Blue. This island was unaffiliated with the World Government, allowing for a greater level of poverty and crime. Since setting sail with a number of fellow gangsters, Kid has invoked mass civilian casualties yet ironically holds both the privileged and the marines in low esteem for their own destructive tendencies, which he considers far worse.
Like Luffy, Kid is stubborn, often challenging far more esteemed figures than himself. He is speculated to have been sunk for good after an encounter with Shanks, Dorry, and Broggy, who all saw him as a danger to Elbaf. Shanks defeating him with a Haki-imbued attack shows he has less willpower than the Emperor. Nonetheless, fans speculate this may not be the end of Kid.
Silvers Rayleigh
The Dark King
Silvers Rayleighwas the right hand of Gol D. Roger, handpicked by the captain as his very first crewmate. He was something of a disciplinarian, enforcing his authority over the likes of Shanks and Buggy.
Since retiring from piracy, he has mellowed out and become a coating mechanic. He was Luffy’s mentor in Haki during the time skip, helping the young pirate learn how to refine every form of it for use in combat.
Boa Hancock
Pirate Empress
Boa Hancockis the ruler of Amazon Lily, an island comprised solely of women. Her history as a slave made her a misandrist, hating all but three men in the present day. Nonetheless, she cooperated with the World Government, joining the Seven Warlords of the Sea, to allow for a level of protection for Amazon Lily.
Hancock is noted for her beauty, which she believes allows her to get away with anything. She befriended Monkey D. Luffy after an initial hostile reaction to his presence on her island. This evolved into an intense crush that she seems to still harbor today. As a powerful and authoritative figure, Hancock has shown skill in all three forms of Haki. This may correlate to her friendship with Rayleigh, who also mentored Luffy in his Haki training, but this is unconfirmed.
Donquixote Doflamingo
Ex-Celestial Dragon
Donquixote Doflamingois a presently incarcerated pirate who held sway over the various powers that be before his jailing. His Conqueror’s Haki was discovered by a small gang when he unleashed it is a child. They took to becoming his subordinates after being impressed by it.
He also displays a level of skill in Observation and Armament Haki. Even locked in Impel Down and devolving into mad fits of laughter, he shows a level of lucidity and refusal to submit, possibly tying into his willpower.
