The Elder Scrolls Online’s Solstice Explained

The Elder Scrolls Online’s next updatewill open up a smorgasbord of new content to explore when it comes to Solstice, but players won’t receive access to everything at once. The tropical paradise of Solstice is a troubled one, and it’ll be up to players to rid it of the wickedness haunting its treacherous stretches. Even without the evils crawling throughout its pleasantries, Solstice is filled with many dangers and even more questions, most centrally being the enigmatic Writhing Wall. Players returning toESOfor this new update will have a lot to chew on, and that’s only the appetizer.

Western Solstice

When players first get their hands onThe Elder Scrolls Online’s upcoming update, they’ll only have access to Part 1 of the Seasons of The Worm Cult. This means that fans will only be able to access Western Solstice, with Eastern Solstice sequestered behind The Writhing Wall—an impassable arcane blockade. Nonetheless, there’s plenty to do in Western Solstice, with new world bosses and Delves aplenty. Players will also be able to play through a new Public Dungeon, as well as a new Trial in the form of the Ossein Cage. In addition, players will have 16 Antiquities (including three new Mythics), four new Trial item sets (with Perfected versions available), new crafting motifs, new pets, and even more. However, fans won’t just be tracking these items down in peace; they’ll have to deal withElder Scrolls Online’s Worm Cult, who previously fought against the player in Coldharbour.

A new upstart, Wormblood, is now managing the cult. Growing fromtheir roots inDaggerfall, the cult is now operating in a shrouded manner slowly taking over the island of Solstice, all while splitting in half with the arcane Writhing Wall. The Writhing Wall can’t be passed by the player, having been established via soul magic to protect Wormblood’s central operations. Fans will have to contend with the island’s factions and rally their allies before attempting to take on the bulk of the Worm Cult.

Eastern Solstice

Later this year, afterSeasons of the Worm Cult Part 1has been out for a little while, fans will be able to take a stab at tearing down the Writhing Wall. The game will have its first server-wide, one-time event, requiring players to get together to take down the arcane obstacle. Players will have to take on activities in Solstice to bring the Wall down, though even just gathering resources will help the assault. Once the Writhing Wall has been thwarted, fans will be able to cross into Eastern Solstice in Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2.
