All of FromSoftware’s action-RPGs are considered difficult games. That’s part of their appeal. EachDark Souls,Bloodborne,Sekiro, andElden Ringwas designed meticulously to strike the perfect balance between fair and challenging. Enemies hit hard, but so does the player. That skill-based challenge is a core component of FromSoft’s winning formula. But when that balance is knocked even slightly off its axis, it can quickly devolve into a rather frustrating experience. Such is the case withElden Ring Nightreignwhen it’s played in solo mode.
In its current form,Elden Ring Nightreign’s solo mode is unfairly difficult. The vast majority of enemy encounters inNightreignare designed for three players to tackle simultaneously, so regardless of any health of damage scaling, these encounters are just too overwhelming in solo. But die-hard FromSoft fans might crave the extra challenge. And if that’s the case, there are a few Nightfarers that are better suited to the job than others.
The Best Nightfarers for Soloing Elden Ring Nightreign
Wylder - A Jack of All Trades
The recommended starting point for allElden Ring Nightreignplayers, Wylder is probably the safest option when it comes to playingNightreignalone. Wylder starts the game with a fairly powerful greatsword, but his kit allows him to be a jack of all trades with most of the game’s weapons. Wylder’s dodge speed and mobility are strong, with hisClaw Shot abilityallowing him to propel himself forward as well as drag enemies and stagger them.
Wylder’s Ultimate Art, Onslaught Stake, is also incredibly useful in solo play, delivering massive damage and staggering even the largest ofElden Ring Nightreign’s bosses. Killing an enemy with Onslaught Stake will also refill Wylder’s Ultimate Art gauge by 75%, allowing solo players to use it more frequently. Finally, Wylder’s Sixth Sense passive ability is a great boon for solo play, granting players the ability to resurrect themselves once during battle (until they’ve visited a Site of Grace).
Guardian - The Ultimate Defense
One ofElden Ring Nightreign’s tanks, the Guardian is able to block a lot of damage thanks to his giant shield, while having a bit more mobility than the Raider. Guardian’s penchant for Halberds keeps his enemies at a safe distance, and his large health pool allows plenty of room for errors. Guardian’s abilities also come in handy during solo play, with both delivering powerful AoE attacks.
Of course, all ofElden Ring Nightreign’s Nightfarers benefit greatly from having their personalized Relics equipped, which can be found by completing their unique Remembrance missions.
Ironeye - A Safe Sniper
Ironeye is one ofthe best Nightfarers inElden Ring Nightreign, regardless of team size or composition. In a refreshing turn of events, FromSoftware has made ranged combat exponentially more viable this time around, with Ironeye being able to two-shot most regular enemies right out of the gate.
With some imbued bows at his side, Ironeye can dish out some serious damage, and his long-range nature puts him in a much safer position on the battlefield. To make things even better, Ironeye’s abilities also work very well during solo play, with his Ultimate Art staggering large crowds if positioned right, and his Character Skill allowing him to deal increased damage.
Duchess - A Skill-Based Menace
She’s probably the riskiest option on this list, butElden Ring Nightreign’s Duchessis capable of dealing an impressive amount of damage in a very short span of time. That’s especially the case if players are lucky enough to find weapons that suit her playstyle, such as dual daggers that inflict bleed or another powerful status effect. The only issue with Duchess is that she’s heavily reliant on the player’s skill, arguably more so than any other Nightfarer in the game. Staying alive as Duchess in solo is going to depend entirely on how good the player is at dodging.
