Nightreigncame as a striking surprise for fans during The Game Awards 2024 in December, teasing a new standalone game within the universe of FromSoftware’s massively successful open-worldElden Ring.Elden Ring Nightreignhas been an instant sales success, with the game selling more than two million units on its first day. While sales are still going strong,Nightreignis off to a somewhat rocky start, currently holding a “Mixed” rating in Steam reviews due to many disappointed players who aren’t happy with how certain aspects of the game work. One major concern among fans has been the Solo Play mode, which makes the experience more difficult for players who don’t have a group of friends to play with—though luckily for them, one dedicated fan has offered a tempting temporary solution.
Nexus Mods user Keiran1925 has shared “Better Player Scaling” with the community—a mod designed to help withElden Ring Nightreign’s Solo Play issues. Essentially, this new mod increases HP, FP, and stamina scaling for the player, making the challenge a bit more manageable. Moreover, as described by the modder, Better Player Scaling also increases the damage dealt by the player by 30–40%, using a scaling system from level 1 to 99 broken into five parts.
New Elden Ring Nightreign Mod Improves Player Scaling
Keiran1925 also recommends using it alongsideElden Ring Nightreign’s seamless co-op modfor a better experience, though it’s important to note that the modder has warned players against using the mod in regular online mode, which is why it’s crucial to install and play Better Player Scaling offline—otherwise, they risk getting banned. Players should also create a backup of the regulation file in the game folder.
FromSoftware has already announcedimprovements toElden Ring Nightreign’s Solo Playin a future update, in response to the wave of negative feedback the game has been receiving since launch. These improvements include an Automatic Revival Upon Defeat mechanic and an increase in the number of runes gained. Beyond Solo Play, many players have also criticized the game’s performance, reporting several framerate issues, screen tearing, and even game crashes. While FromSoftware continues working on the next patch to address these problems, players can at least try out Keiran1925’s Better Player Scaling mod to enhance the Solo Play experience while they wait for an official fix.
