Elden Ring Nightreignhas a surprisingly huge and detailed map, especially considering how much of it can change from one expedition to the next. Limveld is filled with castles, ruins, towers, and army camps for players to explore. One aspect of Limveld that can cause a lot of confusion is its underground areas, such as mineshafts and caves. These tend to be cramped and difficult to navigate due to branching paths and various rises and falls throughout.

Fortunately, just like in Elden Ring, players ofElden Ring Nightreigncan use the map to view the underground areas they are navigating, making it easier to avoid getting turned around while you track down that one smithing stone you need. Since mineshafts are one of the best sources of smithing stones in Nightreign, it’s important to know how to get in and out of them without getting lost, so this guide will explain how to open the underground map.

How to Show the Underground Map in Elden Ring Nightreign

Players who’ve spent any amount of time in Nightreign’s underground tunnels will know how easy it is to get lostor turned around down there, due to the twisting tunnels filled with enemies and the various climbable spots and long drops to navigate. Fortunately, it’s actually possible to view a map of any underground tunnel in the game via the main map, though this isn’t immediately obvious unless you know what to look for.

To open the underground map and see where you are, you just need to press the Swap Item button (Down on the D-Pad on PS5) and any underground sections of the section of the map your cursor is over will be revealed. you may toggle back to the surface just as easily, and doing so can make it much easier to figure out where you’re going when you’re deep underground, especially when dealing with mine tunnels that have multiple entrances/exits.

This is also useful when navigating other enclosed areas beneath the surface of Limveld, so make sure to check if an underground map is available should you find yourself going particularly deep.Certain Shifting Earth events will cause new and more complex underground areas to appear, so it’s important to check the map whenever it’s an option.
