This crooked jaw monster has a grotesque appearance andcan close the distance quicklywhen trying to bite or grab the player to munch on.Adel, Baron of Night, as it is called, can be considered one of the tougher bunch out ofall the Nightlords, and any careless maneuvers can be the cause of your death. Having a sound strategy in mind and using a good team composition is a must for this fight.
As this is the case, you can find out all the information about Adel’s attack patterns and the boss’s weaknesses that players can take advantage of inElden Ring Nightreign. Understanding how to handle its aggression, when to back off, and how to counter its most dangerous moves will help make this Nightlord encounter far more manageable.
Phase 1
Crushing Maw
Adel plants its jaws into the ground and charges at you.
Shattering Slam
The boss slams its face into the ground, causing a small area around it to erupt.
Purple Grab
Adel raises its head, followed by an audio cue and a purple animation that indicates an incoming jaw grab.
Roaring Tantrum
The boss roars twice, stunning Nightfarers. This does not deal any damage.
Phase 2
Lightning Discharge
Adel starts to vibrate with lightning around itself, then causes a large AOE that rapidly deals damage to any player inside the area.
Lightning Burrow Slam
The boss slams its head into the ground, causing lightning to spread out in multiple directions.
Diving Storm
Adel leaps up into the air, crashes down onto the ground, and unleashes a lightning blast all around it.
Adel, Baron of Night Weaknesses
Adel is weak against several affinities, which somewhat forces players to acquire a weapon that can inflict those Status Effects on the boss.Poison is the boss’s primary weakness and should be your first priority. Unlike any other interaction you might have regarding a Status Effect and a boss, this one is by far the most unique. This is because, when the boss is poisoned, Adel will vomit all the poison in its body, making a toxin pool that deals damage to the player and inflicts Poison buildup if they are nearby.
Acquiring poison armaments is the tricky part, as the Poison Ruins and weapon drops are hard to come by. If you have completed the Sentient Pest raid, then you can equip the Night of the Wise, which has an effect that makes your starting armament deal Poison. With this in your possession, all you have to do is make a visit to the Tunnel to acquire theSmithing Stone [2], and buy the first one from a merchant, and this should allow you toupgrade your weaponto Rare Rarity.
Your alternative options are Sleep and Frostbite, the latter of which is easy to come across. Apart from the various Ruins that drop the Ice weapons, you may use the Night of the Miasma Relic, which gives your armament the Chilling Mist skill.
General Strategy For Gaping Jaw In Elden Ring Nightreign
Adel, Baron of Night, is a hyper-aggressive boss that can instantly switch targetsand has a few attacks in its arsenal. For almost all of its attacks, it uses the large jaws by either planting them into the ground or simply dragging them and approaching the player. The Crushing Maw and Shattering Slam are both attacks that are quite easy to dodgeonce you’ve seen their animations a few times. You should not hold too long to dodge out of the charge of the Crushing Maw, as you might get hit and fall down, allowing the boss to turn around and come at you a second time.
Roaring Tantrum deals no damage on its own, but can be followed up by another attack, so always be ready for anything. The Grab is one of the hardest attacks to dodge, as it instantly closes the distance, and if you are grabbed, it takes out almost 80% of your health by inflicting Blood Loss.
If you are using Ironeye, you’re able to dash through the boss as it comes close for the grab.
Using Poison is a must for this fight, mainly because this makes the boss expel all the poison it has ingested. This gives you a few seconds of uninterrupted combat, allowing you to healtorestore your healthto full, buff yourself, orstay on the offense to take out more of its health. Be sure to stay away from the poison, as you can take damage from it.
One of the weirdest interactions you can have withthe boss is that it can grab two playersat the same timeif they are close enough. This discourages players from grouping together while attacking and encourages staying far apart, especially when you see the starting animation of the Purple Grab.
As phase 2 begins, the boss will power up and unleash a lightning storm across a large area. This can cause your entire team to die instantly if you remain close to the boss during the charge-up.The best way to avoid this is by Surge Sprinting in the opposite direction of Adelwhen you see it charging up. Many of the boss’s attacks will now include lightning blasts mixed with the eruptions.A good way to avoid taking damage is to jump over them.
Make sure you’re constantly applyingFrostbite and especially Poison, as it can sometimes interrupt the bosswhenever it grabs a player, saving your ally’s life and staggering the boss for a few seconds.
Best Team Composition For Adel In Elden Ring Nightreign
The best team composition for Adel would be tohave a Wylder alongside an Ironeye, and choose a Guardian or Recluse for the third slot. The first two Nightfarers are a must, mainly because of their Character Skillthat allows them to either close the distance between the boss or retreat away from the boss quickly. Despite its large size,Adel can turn around completely in a second, switching its focus to a different Nightfarer. This forces you to have a Nightfarer that has high mobility through their kit.Ironeye’s Marking is a great skill, as the player can dash through the bossif it’s coming for them, while also placing the mark, which will stagger and damage the boss once destroyed.
The third Nightfarer can come down to personal preference at times, buthaving a Guardian or Recluse can be helpful, mainly becauseboth of them are great in terms of utility, as they can help revive allies faster.Guardian’s Ultimate Art has a massive range, which allows you to revive fallen allieswhile also dealing damage to the boss and raising a protective area. Recluse can deal damage from afar, which is quite useful in this fight, and her Ultimate Art can help recover lost health during the troublesome second phase of the fight.
