Summary
Each playable character inElden Ring Nightreigncomes with a different set of passive and active abilities. The ultimate art is the most powerful ability of a character that also has the longest cooldown. For some characters, the ultimate art is focused on dealing maximum damage, while for some others it applies a buff to all allies and lets them reach their full potential.
Ranking the ultimate arts includes multiple factors, like whether they are team-oriented or solo-focused, but overall, there are some ultimate arts that cannot be ignored, as the value they provide is irreplaceable, be it for the team or for a single player.
8Totem Stela - Raider
Deals Strong Damage But Can Be Troublesome
Raider’s Totem Stela spawns a giant pillar on the location of its activation, elevatingRaiderbut also damaging any enemy nearby. The fact that Raider is elevated doesn’t really give him a significant edge, but it could be useful for ranged damage dealers like Ironeye or Recluse, who can use the higher ground to target enemies better without being hit.
Totem Stela doesn’t only deal AOE damage. It also improves the damage output of Raider and all his nearby allies slightly for a brief duration. However, sometimes when fighting with a small-sized boss, they may get stuck inside the pillar, which makes it harder for Raider or allies to hit the boss, at least until the pillar disappears, which simply wastes the buff that Totem Stela provides. So, it is important to activate the ultimate in the correct place.
7Single Shot - Ironeye
Superb Range But Weak AOE Damage
The ultimate for Ironeye is like a ranged version of Wings of Salvation for Guardian. When using Single Shot,Ironeyeshoots a massive arrow towards the target. While the arrow ignores any defense that the target might have, it also creates a tornado behind as it passes through the air, dealing AOE damage to any enemy nearby.
The tornado damage might not be as powerful as that of Wings of Salvation, but it’s still a useful option to clear out small enemies that may lurk around a boss, especially in tight spaces where enemies are packed and there is a higher possibility for Single Shot to collide with them all.
Unlike Wings of Salvation, Ironeye is not a reliable option for reviving teammates, as the tornado damage just isn’t big enough to awaken a downed teammate with three full bars.
6Onslaught Stake - Wylder
Great Ability To Deal Damage And Move Away
Wyldermight not be as agile as the Duchess at dodging incoming attacks, but both his abilities allow him to traverse a decent distance quickly. Speaking of Onslaught Stake, it’s one of the best ultimate arts to deal damage to an enemy and then launch the player back to a safe distance.
The ultimate art shoots an explosive projectile at the target, then pushes back the player. Using Onslaught Stake at the end of an attack chain is ideal, as it will get the player far enough from the boss, with no need for rolling.
Obviously, Wylder’s ultimate doesn’t add any value to the team, and it’s just a personal thing to deal more damage.
5Wings Of Salvation - Guardian
A Team-First Ultimate Art To Protect Allies And Deal Heavy Damage
Both active abilities of theGuardianare focused on dealing AOE damage. When the ultimate art is activated, Guardian leaps into the air and then smashes the ground with a heavy hit. This move has three purposes: it deals damage to any enemy in range, it revives any downed ally in range even with three full bars, and it also creates a field of protection that makes Guardian and any ally in range immune to incoming damage for a brief period.
Wings of Salvation is one of the best team-oriented abilities inElden Ring Nightreign, and it can prevent a wipe during a boss battle multiple times. It can also be beneficial for solo players when farming Runes during the first two days in Limveld. The combination of Whirlwind and Wing of Salvation can instantly kill most medium-HP enemies and even finish off some of the mini-bosses at higher levels.
4Aspects Of The Crucible: Beast - Executor
A Damage-Focused Ultimate Best For Solo Players
Executoris the only character that is able to shapeshift, just like anElden Ringboss! Activating the ultimate art will turn Executor into a wolf beast, significantly increasing his maximum HP value. The ability remains active for around 15 seconds, and the beast can only deal melee damage in four different forms: light, heavy, roaring, and charged. The roaring is more like a defensive move that is able to get rid of smaller enemies and help to remove half of a single bar from a downed teammate.
Leveling up Executor also improves the damage output for the beast attacks. His charged attack is going to finish the shapeshift whenever it is used. It has a massive area of coverage and deals a lot of damage, with a chance to break the enemy’s stance.
This ultimate art makes Executor a solid option for solo runs, while it is also helpful for reviving downed teammates as well. However, the beast is quite slow with his attack moves, which makes it difficult to try to deal damage while staying away from incoming damage.
3Soulblood Song - Recluse
Help The Entire Team Restore Health Without Losing Flasks
Soulblood Song is a superb team-oriented ultimate art inElden Ring Nightreign. When it’s activated, it deals a small amount of damage to nearby enemies, but that is not its primary power. The ultimate allows Recluse and her allies to restore HP and FP by attacking the enemies. So, whenever the players run out of flasks, a Recluse in the team could be quite helpful.
Soulblood Song is even more beneficial to spell casters, as it brings back FP rapidly, allowing them to cast spells continuously and deal significant damage to the enemies while the ultimate art is active.
Completing theRemembrance questline for Reclusewill grant her some unique relics that make Soulblood Song even stronger, by granting extra Max HP and increased damage output to the player upon its activation.
2Finale - Duchess
Fade Off From Enemies' Sight And Skip Unnecessary Fights
Duchess has some unique abilities, but her Ultimate is amazing for a variety of purposes, and it can serve solo players even better. Ever wondered how to sneak past enemies and steal a Shifting Earth buff? The Duchess will deliver that.
When Finale is active,Duchessbecomes invisible to all enemies. Even when the player starts dealing damage to the enemies, the invisibility will not go away. So, it’s an amazing ability to land some heavy blindspot hits or skip all the unnecessary fights, especially when in a hurry. This is a useful skill for any lone wolf inNightreign. With Finale, players can easily loot all the chests without dealing with annoying enemies.
While the ultimate art is also effective in boss fights, it might not be the best option for every Nightlord. Instead, players can use Finale to revive their teammates without drawing attention. Finale proves its value for a team when both teammates are down.
1Immortal March - Revenant
Cheat Death And Focus On Dealing Damage To The Boss
Immortal March is simply an ability to cheat death for a brief period. It doesn’t make players invincible to damage, but it prevents death when the health bar hits zero. So, as long as Immortal March is active, players can continue to play with zero health, and then use a flask to avoid death when the ultimate art fades away.
That’s not all about Immortal March though. When Revenant activates her ultimate art, every ghost of hers that is spawned on the field will also perform their own ultimate art on the enemies. Moreover, unlocking the Old Portrait relic fromRevenant’s Remebrance questlinewill make Immortal March even more powerful. With the relic equipped, Immortal March will increase Revenant’s Max HP while also fully healing any nearby ally upon its activation.
Immortal March is an irreplaceable team-oriented ultimate art, and that’s why having aRevenantin the team is always recommended, as she can avoid a wipe on many occasions and clutch a battle.
