ThoughElden Ring Nightreignhas some issues with its meta progression, its customization rewards are solid, especially for those who have been playing FromSoftware games for over a decade now. After defeatingElden Ring Nightreign’s second Night Lord, players unlock a mirror in the Roundtable Hold hub area. Interacting with the mirror presents players with a handful of alternate outfits for their Nightfarer, which can be purchased using the leftover Runes gained at the end of a run.
Initially, each Nightfarer has two additional costumes, named “Dawn” and “Darkness,” and finishing a Nightfarer’s Remembrance Quest grants them a third outfit to equip. But by far the most exciting outfits inElden Ring Nightreignare those that referenceFromSoftware’sDark Soulstrilogy, which are unlocked after players defeat the final Night Lord. There are already some very iconicDark Souls-inspired outfits in the game, but there’s plenty of room for more, and that’s hopefully somethingNightreign’s confirmed DLC will deliver on.
Skins That Should Be Added with Elden Ring Nightreign’s DLC
Dark Souls' Ornstein and Smough Armor Set
WhileElden Ring Nightreignis already home to outfits inspired bybelovedDark Soulscharacters like Solaireand Havel, there are still countless armor sets from the series' first entry that would suitNightreign’s aesthetic perfectly. Smough and Ornstein’s sets are the perfect example. Possibly the most iconic duo boss in FromSoft history, Smough and Ornstein’s shiny golden suits of armor would look particularly great onNightreign’s Raider and Guardian, with even their choice of weapons matching.
Dark Souls' Big Hat Logan
Elden Ring Nightreign’s Reclusealready comes equipped with a pretty big hat, and herDark Souls 3-inspired “Heretic Sorcerer” outfit also features an oversized headpiece. But there’s still room forNightreignto reference the original big-hatted sorcerer from the firstDark Souls. Logan is far from the most memorable FromSoftware NPC, but his outfit is a great one, and it would serve as a nice deep-cut reference for long-time FromSoft fans.
Dark Souls 2’s Alonne Set
While it may be the black sheep of FromSoftware’s catalog,Dark Souls 2is still home to some incredible boss fights, especially in its DLC. Sir Alonne is one such boss fight, found duringDark Souls 2’s Crown of the Old Iron King DLC. A mysterious knight hailing from the east, Sir Alonne is a katana-wielding samurai whose outfit would perfectly suitElden Ring Nightreign’s Executor.
A Sekiro Skin
While the entireDark Soulstrilogy gets a lot of love inElden Ring Nightreign, the same can’t be said forSekiro: Shadows Die Twice. But there’s still time to remedy that.Nightreign’s Executor has an ability that seems directly inspired bySekiro’s deflection mechanic, and there’s no better way to bring things full circle than by giving the Nightfarer an outfit inspired by the titular “one-armed wolf.”
Bloodborne’s Hunter Outfit
Bloodborneis another obvious omission inElden Ring Nightreign, but the reasons for that are a little more predictable. WithSony owning theBloodborneIP, it’s unlikely FromSoftware would use any of its bosses for the multi-platform roguelike. That said, if there was some leeway there, an outfit inspired byBloodborne’s Hunter would be a great fit forNightreign’s Duchess, with the Nightfarer already bearing some resemblance to Lady Maria.
