Summary

For those who loved co-op inElden Ring, but wanted something where they could play with their friends more seamlessly,Elden Ring: Nightreignoffers the perfect solution. With a new spin onElden Ring’s combat, and its own take on traversal,Nightreigntakes familiar elements and gives them a new, replayable, co-op structure. While the game shines in three-person co-op,players can also take it on soloif they’re looking for a challenge.

The game takes a lot of its content from the base game ofElden Ring, so fans will be familiar with thespells inNightreignonce they find them. Spells work a little differently than they do inElden Ring, though. There are no attribute requirements inNightreign, and players don’t equip spells into slots manually. Instead, when a player picks up a Staff or Seal inElden RingNightreign, it comes with two Sorceries or Incantations built in.

Elden Ring Nightreign glintstone arc

There is a long list of spells that can potentially be found on a Staff or Seal, but not all of them will perform equally well. It can often be wise for a magic user like the Recluse to pick a Staff based on its spells rather than its rarity. For players looking for the best spells to use inElden Ring Nightreign, these are some of the most usefulSorceries and Incantations, ranked.

8Glintstone Arc

Basic Multi-target Damage

Glinstone Arc isn’t a powerful spell, but it can be handy in the early game for taking out enemy mobs. The wide magical arc can hit multiple enemies at once, and it’s a low-cost, FP-efficient sorcery. Glinstone Arc is a guaranteed spell on the Recluse’s starting Glintstone Staff, but it can randomly occupy the second slot of other Staves that drop on a run, too. It’s fairly common to find this spell on night one, and while it’s only useful in the early part of a run, it’sa valuable toolnonetheless.

7Frenzied Burst

Eyes Of Madness

Frenzied Burst has excellent range and damage, and can be charged to pierce an enemy’s guard. It’s effective for taking on single targets at extended range, but requires some time to fully charge for the enhanced effect. Frenzied Burst can be a useful spell, but it’s not always easy to find. This incantation has the chance take the second slot on any sacred seal, but a Frenzied Flame seal with Frenzied Burst in the second slot will be most effective.

6Ranni’s Darkmoon

Slow Cast, Big Damage

Ranni’s Darkmoon is a high-damage sorcery, but it has a long cast time and can be easily interrupted if done at the wrong time. For a magic user, it’s still an effective option, as the projectile will seek enemies and decrease their magic defense on impact. This can be useful inextended boss fightslike the Nightlords, but the spell has high FP consumption. This sorcery can randomly occupy the second spell slot on any Glintstone Staff, and is mostly found on higher level weapons.

5Adula’s Moonblade

AoE Damage With Revival Potential

Adula’s Moonblade is a mid-level spell in terms of damage, but the relatively low cost, the fact that it can be cast repeatedly, and the area damage and range it provides make itvery effective for a caster. Since the projectiles fired by every slash with the spell can hit at mid-range, it also makes for a good tool for reviving downed comrades, even if it’s too dangerous to run over to where they are. Adula’s Moonblade has a chance to occupy the second spell slot on any Glinstone Staff, and is worth picking up when found.

4Black Flame

Damage Over Time

Black Flame is a mid-range cast that throws a black fireball at foes. It can be charged to explode for AoE damage on impact, and will deal lingering damage over time based on a percentage of the enemy’s total HP. This makes it a useful spell against tougher enemies, and very effective forgathering elemental residues as the Recluse. This incantation will always take the primary spell slot on a Godslayer Seal, so players will need to find one of these specific Seals to use it.

3Golden Vow

Damage & Defense Buff

Some players overlook sorceries and incantations that don’t deal direct damage in favor of more impressive offensive options, but Golden Vow is a buff that shouldn’t be ignored. This spell increases attack and defense for the player and both allies if they’re near enough when cast. This incantation can randomly occupy the second spell slot of any Sacred Seal. Since magic users can equip multiple Seals or Staffs in their weapon slots, it’s worth keeping Golden Vow around fortougher fights, even if it’s not on the player’s main weapon.

2Lightning Spear

Reliable Ranged Damage

Lightning Spear is a solid, consistent option for ranged damage for either theRecluse or Revenantthat can be charged for more damage or cast quickly when players need to stay mobile. The low FP cost means it can be cast repeatedly, and it’s a good fallback option when players need to stay at range. This incantation will always take the primary spell slot on a Gravel Stone Seal, so players will need to find the corresponding Seal to use it.

1Comet Azur

Big Beam

The big, long-range beam of Comet Azur is an iconicElden Ringspell, and it’sjust as effective inElden RingNightreign. The spell requires the user to stand still and channel it to get the best use out of it, which means it can only be used in the right circumstances, but its damage potential is huge when used correctly. It’s best used with the Recluse’s magic and holy cocktail, which negates FP use for themselves and allies, or with a cerulean crystal tear which has a similar effect but only for the user. This spell can only be found as the primary spell on Azur’s Glintstone Staff, so players will need to get lucky and find one of these in a run to use it.
