Summary
Dune: Awakeninghas many interesting mechanicsfor players to discover, and the ability to trade items with NPC merchants will fill their chests with Solaris (money) sooner than they expect. However, players should be careful with what they sell to the traders. Some items are far too precious to turn into regular currency and are better employed in progressing through the adventure.
So, here in this list, players will learn about the things that they should never sell to vendors inDune: Awakening, to avoid sub-optimal use of resources, and to maximize their advantage as they try to gather allies in Arrakis.
5Schematics
They Are One-Time Use, And Some Are Extremely Rare
Schematics can be found in special locations like Intel PoIs, bandit hideouts, Imperial Research bases, and ship wreckages, and allow players to craft special and unique gear using spice-infused materials. Each schematic is for one-time use, so each time players craft, they lose the schematic they have registered.
Selling them is a big mistake, since Vendors will offer players a small fee for their troublesome Unique schematic farming, and players will lose the chance to craft gear that always comes in handy. So, don’t sell these, unless of courseplayers have access to the Exchangeand they can offer their valuable extra schematics for sale there.
4Fremen Materials
Expensive, But You Need Them In The Late Game
There are lots of ways to make money inDune: Awakening, and since the advanced Sub-Fief Console will make playerspay to maintain the base they build, they will need a lot of money. So, selling Orange crafting materials, also known as Fremen Materials (Micro-Sandwich Fabric and EMF Generator,) might seem like a good idea, since these materials are expensive.
But players shouldn’t make that mistake, because sooner or later, they will regret it. In the end-game, these mats are highly requested in various high-tiered crafting recipes and base building, and having few of them could softlock players for a long time as they recover the needed amount. Better to hoard them than later regret the decision to sell them for easy Solaris.
3Broken Gear
Why Sell For Scrap, If You Can Recycle?
During their exploration sessions in Arrakis,Dune: Awakeningplayers will come across various items that are already crafted. From weapons to gear, vehicle parts, and tools, everything can be found among the dunes. And sometimes, this gear and whatever players can craft end up breaking, which is represented by a red bar that covers most of the durability of the item. In case players are wondering if selling these items is profitable, the answer is no.
NPC traders have the directive of selling at extremely high prices and purchasing at the lowest possible. Players might find that selling tier 2 and 3 equipment only yields 10 to 20 solaris, sometimes even less. So, why bother? There’s a better goal for these items, and that’s recycling. Any undesired, broken gear can be put into the recycler station in its base to instantly exchange it for some of the resources needed to craft said item. That way, players can maximize the utility of all the items they find and craft even better gear using recycled materials extracted from them.
2Vehicle Parts
The Vendors Will Scam You Out Of Some Precious Resources
Similarly to the case of Broken or Spare Items, spare vehicle parts are not profitable enough to justify a trip to the nearest trading station in thehuge open-world mapof Arrakis. Players should be conscious that every trip they make to the trader will spend precious fuel, water, and time they should be spending doing more profitable stuff.
So, any spare vehicle parts they have, into the Recycler Station it goes. That way, the next time they are crafting a new vehicle part for their new transport, they will have a surplus of mats ready to craft every piece they need to assemble their sandbike, ornithopter, or buggy.
1Spice-Infused Materials
Never, Under Any Circumstance, Sell These
Spice-Infused materials (like copper dust)are extremely scarce in the game, and NPC traders offer a decent amount of Solaris per unit. But watch out: Don’t be tempted to sell them, since this is a big mistake.
These precious materials are needed to craft unique gear, and each piece requires from 5 to 20 Spice-Infused mats to be created. Since in most cases, these mats drop from Wreckages (which are considered PvP free for all zones), players should keep as many of these in stock. And never, under any circumstances, sell it to an NPC, since it’s a waste of a critical resource.
