The Sandbike is the first vehicle players will get to make inDune Awakening. It’s light and relatively speedy, and you’ll need it if you want to cross large stretches of open sand without getting eaten by a giant worm. Building one is fairly straightforward, and the game’s unique take on vehicle crafting makes building and maintaining your Sandbike an absolute joy.
Given the size of the map inDune Awakening, you’ll want to get a vehicle as soon as you’re able to. This guide covers the basics of vehicle crafting as well as the process of assembling, refueling, and repairing it.
How to Craft a Sandbike in Dune Awakening
If you started your game with the tech tree locked, you’ll need to keep doing the Journey quests until you’re able tounlock the Sandbike Mk1 Assembly Schematicin the Research tab. Once you unlock that, you’ll be able to craft individual Sandbike parts at a Fabricator.
Gathering materials is at the forefront ofthe survival-crafting gameplay loop. The crafting components you need to build a Sandbike inDune Awakeningcan be obtained byraiding Imperial Testing Stations, old underground research labs containing bits of valuable tech. Alternatively,you can buy Sandbike parts from merchants in trading posts.
After you get all the components and craft all the parts, you’ll then need aWelding Torch, which you can also make at a Fabricator. Craft one, then equip it. Then, use the Welding Torch tomanually assemble your Sandbike. Start by placing the chassis, then attach thePSU, engine, treads, and an optional attachment like a backseat or a booster.
How to Use Sandbike Boosters and Other Attachments
If you attach a device like a booster on the back of your Sandbike, a skill icon will at the bottom of the screen while you’re riding the vehicle. To activate the attachment, press whatever button that skill is bound to.
How to Repair Your Sandbike in Dune Awakening
Your vehicles will eventually get damaged as you explore Arrakis. If it does get damaged, you can’t justuse a Repair Stationas you would for items. Instead, you repair Sandbikes and other vehicles byusing the Repair function of the Welding Torch.
Storing Your Sandbike
If you leave your Sandbike outside your territory for too long, it’ll start to degrade. To prevent this from happening,you’ll need to use a Vehicle Backup Tool. This essentially lets you store your vehicle in the tool itself, keeping them from taking passive damage.
To use the Vehicle Backup Tool, simple point it at your vehicle, then press the Fire button to store that specific vehicle. To deploy a vehicle, equip the backup tool and hover your crosshair over any open patch of land.
How to Refuel Your Sandbike in Dune Awakening
You can refuel your bike by holding the Interact button while riding it (or while standing near and hovering your crosshair over it).This opens up the Interaction wheel. Select the gas can logo to the right of the wheel, and the game will automatically refuel your Sandbike using any fuel items you have in your inventory.
To craft Sandbike fuel, you need to process some Fuel Cells in a Chemical Station. You may also find Sandbike fuel from wrecked vehicles, loot containers, and merchants.
