Dragon Ball Superwill celebrate its 10th anniversary this month. However, many fans were disappointed to learn that the upcomingV-JUMPissue, scheduled for June 19,will not include a newDB Superchapter. In fact, theDBSanniversary celebrations seem underwhelming. That said, manga anniversary celebrations typically last for a year, so there’s still hope thatV-JUMPwill release something special later.
It’s hard to believe that Toyotaro and Shueisha haven’t considered the significance of this milestone. So, while no major celebrations are planned for the nextV-JUMPissue, the magazine could still announce a few surprises for July.
Toyotaro Will Be At Japan Expo Paris
Regardless of celebrations, Toyotaro will be attending Japan Expo Paris, which will be held in France from July 3 to May 21, 2025. He will be joined byDragon Balleditor Kazuhiko Torishima. With such key figures in the franchise, fans are already hoping for big news at their panel. According tothe official Japan Expo Paris website, they will be discussing “the first original manga project,” though it’s unclear whether this refers to Torishima’s first project or Toyotaro’s.
Furthermore, it is not confirmed that this “original manga project” is related toDragon Ballat all; it could just refer to their early experiences working professionally in manga. Either way, Toyotaro’s first official project in the franchise wasDragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission(though they might also discuss Toyotaro’sDragon Ball AFfanzine). The panel description does suggest, however, that Torishima will offer his thoughts onDragon Ball Super, so it’s likely they’ll discuss the production of the manga.
While no announcements have been confirmed,fans are hoping Toyotaro will provide updates on the future of the series, especiallythe long-awaited Black Frieza Arc. Furthermore, given that this is one of the largest manga and anime conventions in Europe and that France is one of the biggest manga markets worldwide, there’s a good chance something special will be revealed, though not necessarily the return date.
What’s The Black Frieza Arc?

In the Granolah Arc, Toyotaro introduced themost powerful transformation that Frieza has ever unleashed(at least, for now): Black Frieza. Toyotaro joked that the name was chosen because black credit cards are considered more valuable than gold credit cards. Either way, Black Frieza isn’t a primary foe in this arc, but it’s teased that he will become an antagonist later.

Black Frieza is insanely powerful—so much so that his power can’t even be measured, according toV-JUMP. His power level is believed to be on par with the Gods of Destruction, and it’s established that he is stronger than any of the Z-Fighters in their most powerful forms. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited the Black Frieza arc, so let’s hope it will be released soon.
