Unlike other transformations, however, Super Saiyan God can’t be achieved through hard work alone, since the user needs to begranted access to God Kiso that their body can perform at a far greater level that serves as the new baseline for their strength.
In theBattle of Godsmovie, Goku was shown to unlock this form due to being given sufficient energy by multiple other Saiyans, which is presumably the same way Vegeta got this power as well off-screen. This is the perfect way for Trunks and Goten to be brought back into the fold of things, since this ceremony is an established way for them to achieve a massive power-up in a very short amount of time and with very little effort being put in.

Of course, Super Saiyan God on its own is far removed from the strength that the rest of the main characters have achieved at the current momentwith their ultimate transformations. However, half-Saiyans have unreal potential, so Trunks and Goten could still climb up the ranks to be far stronger than they already are, perhaps even unlocking newer forms or power-ups even quicker than their fathers. In the Buu Saga, Goku and Vegeta were surprised at how easily Trunks and Goten were able to transform into their Super Saiyan states.
Because of this, Super Saiyan Blue should work the same way for them. Plus, with the direction the series is going with regard to transformations, where each character has unique ultimate forms, it would be amazing to see how Trunks and Goten deal with this shift. Since Gohan never got God Ki and opted for Beast instead, it could give fans a wonderful way of seeing how the potential of half-Saiyans mixes with God Ki, which would likely birth cool and interesting new transformations for them.
Gotenks Could Be Their Answer To A Power-Up
The Strongest Version of the Fusion
Conversely, many fans believe that the answer to Trunks and Goten’s upcoming power-up could lie with Gotenks. Throughout the series, these two are the most willing to fuse, prompting many to consider Gotenks a vital part of either character’s arsenal, which is why many want to see him again. Just as fans wanted to see these two Saiyans grow, both in age and power,the sentiment is the same for their fusion.
Naturally, on his own, Gotenks would be incredibly powerful. However, seeing as how power scaling has gone through the roof inDragon Ball Super, it’s likely that just another fusion wouldn’t be enough, and that God Ki is the bare minimum. So, this point of seeing Gotenks again goes hand-in-hand with the last point. Even if Trunks and Goten fuse, they wouldn’t be able to hold a candle to Ultra Instinct Goku or the others on a similar level, so a great power on top of this is almost a requirement.
The real problem here deals with the nature of the fusion, since each ofthe fusions that Saiyans have been seento use in the past either has a brief timer or is very unreliable. Of course, if Potara Fusion was used, it would birth a different fusion to Gotenks, so the Fusion Dance would be the only way. This remains a point of contention, butDragon Ballis no stranger to last-minute plot conveniences.
Gotenks is about as beloved as Trunks and Goten themselves, so fans have always been interested in seeing him again. Plus, seeing the fusion properly at an older age than previous appearances is something that fans have wanted for quite a while, especially with his Super Saiyan 3 form. However, if both constituents were to fuse with their Super Saiyan God forms, the resulting fusion would be incredible.
