Disneyrevealed more information on expansion plans forDisneyland, including the location of the upcomingCocodark ride. TheCocoattraction was announced last year at D23 Expo in Brazil, alongside other major plans for Disneyland, such as Avatar Land, which will be very different from its Magic Kingdom counterpart. Disney Parks have seen a huge increase in revenue in recent years, with even more growth projected for the next few years as the company is working on expansions on many fronts.
TheCoco-themed ride will be the first attraction inspired by the franchise in a Disney park. Disneyland Paris has a Mexican restaurant called Casa de Coco, but there are no rides inspired by the movie. According to information revealed at D23, it will be a boat ride where visitors travel across the Land of the Dead, drawing inspiration fromPirates of the CaribbeanandHaunted Mansion. Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro also confirmed back then that they will employ Audio-Animatronics “in ways you have to see to believe” in this ride.
Coco Attraction and Other Expansion Plans
According toDisney Parks Blog, theCocoride will begin construction in fall 2026 in Disney California Adventure, and it will be located near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier, mostly in areas that are backstage today. Additionally, theWorld of Cocoland will be built in the park, replacing Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta, Paradise Garden Grill, and a parking lot.

Disney also announced new parking and transportation infrastructure plans on theeast side of the Disneyland Resort, which will replace the Manchester cast member park. They plan to improve parking and traffic flow by providing around 6,000 parking spaces, shuttle and ride-share areas, and also a pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard. They also aim to improve how guests access the park, making it part of the experience. This will also begin construction in fall 2026.
Finally, they shared new information on the Avatar Land, to be built in a portion of the Hollywood Backlot —Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!will close to make way for construction.Disneyland is celebrating its 70th anniversarythis year, and they are already thinking of ways to enhance the park experience from the time visitors arrive and also working on infrastructure expansions to welcome more visitors, since growth is expected with so many new attractions coming in the next few years.
