Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas remained incredibly focused on adding more characters to its roster since its early access debut almost three years ago. Version 1.0 ofDisney Dreamlight Valleyfeatured over a dozen characters, but the base game roster has now rapidly expanded to a list of forty-three iconic figures from Walt Disney Animation and Pixar Studios. But while adding new faces toDisney Dreamlight Valleyis certainly not a quest Gameloft should abandon completely, perhaps it is time for the game to slow down so that it can revisit some familiar faces instead.
There are several waysthatDisney Dreamlight Valleycould update its existing roster of characters. At the end of the day, new decorative items like furniture and clothing or fresh interactions between characters would be great inclusions by Gameloft. Currently, manyDisney Dreamlight Valleycharacters are left by the wayside simply because players have already completed all of their Friendship Quests. The solution to this problem is simple: add new Friendship Quests for the existing characters ofDisney Dreamlight Valley.
Disney Dreamlight Valley Should Expand Friendship Levels for Older Villagers
Allcharacters inDisney Dreamlight Valley, both in its base game and DLC-exclusive, feature ten Friendship Levels. These rewards can range from character-themed clothing, furniture, and motifs, to resources like Star Coins. However, not every character has Friendship Rewards for each Friendship Level. Of course, each character does get to have character-exclusive items as rewards, but unfortunately, some characters simply have better Friendship Rewards than others.
Adding new Friendship Levels would not only give players an excuse to spend time with specific characters, but could even out this disparity of Friendship Rewards onDisney Dreamlight Valley’s character roster. Picking and choosing the exact details of this revamp must be handled very carefully on Gameloft’s end, as everyDisney Dreamlight Valleyplayer has their own favorite Villager, but it is still something worth pursuing.
How DDV Could Expand Friendship Levels
There are several approaches thatDisney Dreamlight Valleycould take to add new Friendship Levels to characters from its base game roster. Looking at the disparity of Friendship Rewards is certainly one option, but choosing the first characters to update could be based on when they were added to the game may be the simplest path forward. Many characters who got the short end of the stick in terms of Friendship Rewards were added early intoDisney Dreamlight Valley’s history, so while they would not necessarily need to be the first to receive updates, these characters could receive Friendship Levels sooner than others. Alternatively, Gameloft could let players vote on which characters they want to see receive additional story quests and friendship rewards.
New Content Should Still Be a Part of DDV
To be fair, some players may be against the idea of adding more Friendship Levels to characters. After all, there are so many Walt Disney Animation and Pixar Studios titles that have yet to joinDisney Dreamlight Valley’s character roster. However, players must keep in mind that at the roster’s current rate of expansion, Gameloft could easilyrun out of characters to add toDisney Dreamlight Valleyin just a few years. PerhapsDisney Dreamlight Valleycould offer the best of both worlds, then, refreshing one current Villager per update alongside one new character addition.
SomeDisney Dreamlight Valleyupdatesalready feature two character additions rather than one, so instead of adding multiple characters in an update,Disney Dreamlight Valleycould embrace a balance between updates and fresh face. This could successfully slow down the rate in whichDisney Dreamlight Valleyis adding characters while still allowing it to introduce new content, putting off the eventual scenario where it runs out of characters to add until much further down the road. Though some players may believe that new always equals better, givingDisney Dreamlight Valleythe time to breathe by refreshing existing Villagers could prove beneficial in the long run, giving iconic, shelved characters their time in the sun.
