Kanao Tsuyuri’s formative years were filled withemotional abuse, hopelessness, and torture. She was neglected by her parents who eventually sold her off to a man. Luckily, Kanao was rescued by Shinobu and Kanae Kocho, who ended up noticing her talent and gave her the opportunity to hone her skills.
People born into this world can feel joy, sadness, rage and other emotions so strongly they tremble. But that’s all a mystery to you isn’t it? You’ve never felt happiness. Felt enjoyment. Felt pain. Kanao surpassed all expectations and proved herself to be worthy of becoming their Tsuguko. However, the psychological damage of her childhood was deep and she struggled to make even simple life decisions on her own. Over time, Kanao grew close to the Kocho sisters, but tragedy struck when Kanae waskilled by an Upper Moon.
Once the Flower Hashira was gone, Shinobu mimicked her behavior and started looking after Kanao. Slowly, she became an indispensable member of the Demon Slayer Corps and by the time Tanjiro met her during the rehabilitation training, she was so strong that he deduced that she was the closest demon slayer to the Hashira.

Kanao is All Set to Fight an Upper Moon With Inosuke
In the Infinity Castle arc,the Demon Slayer Corpsfaces its biggest battle yet as it fights the Upper Moons of the Twelve Kizuki. Some of the most talented Hashira of the Taisho era are all set to finally reveal their true potential and fight at their best. In all this chaos, Kanao has been largely ignored so far. What many fans don’t realize yet is that she will be playing a crucial role in the trilogy.
Kanao has been training relentlessly for years now.Even when Tanjiro first met her, her movements were difficult to keep track of. She was also a far-superior swordsman to Tanjiro and his friends. While the main characters have undoubtedly transformed into better combatants, Kanao has also become significantly more skilled than the last time they met her.
In the Infinity Castle,she will be fighting an Upper Moon alongside Inosuke. The duo have never paired together in such a tense situation. To make matters worse, since they will be fighting without any marked demon slayer nearby, they will have to do without the Demon Slayer Mark. With odds heavily stacked against them, Kanao will push herself beyond her limits and showcase the talent that will shock even Inosuke.
Kanao’s speed will beon par with the Hashiraand despite swinging her sword with incredible force, she won’t get tired at all. In fact, she will cut through any obstacle in her path with ease. Kanao will also display incredible combat intellect and predict the movements of the Upper Moon demon based on previous attacks. Although she will suffer several serious injuries, Tsuyuri’s resilience and endurance won’t be affected, as she will fight through the pain with unusual gusto.
Somehow I feel the people I care for and those important to me will still be alive tomorrow. But that’s just my hope and there’s no way I can promise that with any certainty. Why do people… believe such things?
Eventually, Kanao’s fighting prowess will reach a point that even the Upper Moon demon she will be fighting admits that she has surpassed some of the Taisho era’s top Hashira. Keeping in mind that she uses Flower Breathing,a derivative of Water Breathing, her achievements will be remembered as nothing short of extraordinary.
There is no doubt that Tsuyuri is set to be Demon Slayer Corps’s most underrated talent in the final battle. Kanao’s journey of overcoming childhood trauma and abuse to fighting and overwhelming one of the most powerful beings in existence will leave a lot of fans stunned when the fight finally comes to life.
