Each arc in the series has featured everything from endearing moments to immense battles where Tanjiro and the demon slayers put it all on the line to defeat the many monsters standing in their way.
Each arc inDemon Slayeris full of incredible animation that gives every Breathing Style a ton of character. From Tanjiro’s patented Sun Breathing to the flashiness of Zenitsu’s Thunder Breathing and everything in between, these arcs feature it all and then some.
7Tsuzumi Mansion Arc
Both Tanjiro And Zenitsu Show Why They’re Such Promising Demon Slayers
The fight against Kyogai is notable inDemon Slayer, since this is the first time that Tanjiro has faced off against a demon who used to be a part of the Demon Moons. To make it worse, the protagonist was fighting in Kyogai’s home turf and had to adjust his movement on the fly.
He did so courtesy of a wonderful Water Breathing move that helped him adjust to the rotations of the room Kyogai was manipulating. Meanwhile, Zenitsu shed his cowardice and gave fans a glimpse of his basic Thunderclap & Flash, the First Form of Lightning Breathing that would somehow turn into one of the strongest Breathing Forms inDemon Slayer.
6Mount Natagumo Arc
The First Display Of Sun Breathing Is Beautiful
Mount Natagumo is one of the most important arcs inDemon Slayer. Fans get a taste of Beast Breathing, and Zenitsu’s Thunder Breathing shines once again, but the crowning jewel of this arc isthe fight between Tanjiro and Rui.
After showing off all forms of Water Breathing, Tanjiro finally channels the power of Sun Breathing and uses it to fend off Rui. Despite his victory being hollow, Giyu’s unique Eleventh Water Breathing Form beheads Rui for good, while Shinobu also shows off how her poisonous Insect Breathing takes out demons.
5Mugen Train Arc
Rengoku Shines And Shows First-Hand The Power Of A Hashira
The Mugen Train arc was perfect for a movie adaptation, and Ufotable didn’t disappoint. The fight against Enmu was a battle of strength and will, with Tanjiro’s Sun Breathing rearing its head once again as he managed to decapitate Enmu’s “head.”
However, no one could prepare for Akaza’s arrival, with Rengoku heroically standing up to the demon despite being exhausted from protecting a massive chunk of the train’s passengers on his own. Unfortunately, his Flame Breathing couldn’t match up to Akaza’s unfair might, and he fell despite trying to make the most of his diminishing strength.
4Entertainment District Arc
A High-Stakes Battle Against The Sixth Upper Rank Demon Moon Duo
The Entertainment District arc is when things get real, with the main trio and Tengen showing off their Breathing Styles in battles against the two Upper Rank Six Demon Moons. Watching the Hashira’s Sound Breathing is a blast, with this technique having uses both in and out of combat.
Tanjiro’s Sun Breathing manages to overpower Daki and Gyutaro both, with both Zenitsu and Inosuke getting their time to shine. It’s an amazing display of Breathing Styles that is brought to life with Ufotable’s incredible work, extending fight scenes to show off their skills.
3Swordsmith Village Arc
Hantengu And Gyokko Push The Demon Slayers Beyond Their Limits
Swordsmith Village takes little to no time to get going. Gyokko and Hantengu are tough foes, with the former pushing Muichiro to his very limit. Thankfully, after a convenient flashback, Muichiro awakens the Demon Slayer Mark and makes quick work of this foe with his impressive Mist Breathing.
Mitsuri shows off the power of her Love Breathing by fending off Hantengu’s strongest form, while Tanjiro gives chase and uses both his patented Breathing Styles. As a cherry on top of this display, the protagonist also calls upon Zenitsu’s expertise with the Thunderclap & Flash technique, using an adapted form of this technique to catch up to a fleeing Hantengu.
2Sunrise Countdown Arc
The Fight Against Muzan Kicks It Into High Gear
There’s no denying thatthe final fight against Muzanwill boast one of the most impactful moments in the series. However, in terms of the Breathing Styles shown, a greater focus is given on Sun Breathing than on everything else.
After all, this is the very style that Muzan feared, and Tanjiro unleashes a flurry of moves to attempt to take out the Demon King for good. Other Breathing Styles do get their chance to shine (especially after a shocking development near the end), but fans will agree that this variety was explored better in the arc that preceded the final fight.
1Infinity Castle Arc
A Litany Of Emotional Fights With Bombastic Displays Of Swordsmanship Prowess
Fans can’t wait to see Ufotable putting in the work to makeevery fight in the Infinity Castle arcgrander than ever. Every Hashira will get a chance to shine as they show off their Breathing Forms against imposing foes.
It’s the most dazzling display of Breathing Styles in the series by a country mile. The variety is incredible, and it’s only a given that Ufotable will knock it out of the park with the movie budget they have to make every battle larger than life.
