Deltarunegives players another chance to venture into the wonderful mind of Toby Fox and experience a new story within theUnderworlduniverse. With plenty of secrets to uncover and different ways to approach each scenario, there’s a good chance you might want to delete or at least transfer your save file and start a new one to go about something a little differently. Especially because of the way the game handles its save system.
Here, I’ll run you throughwhere to findDeltarunesave data on PC, and how to save your progress as you’re making your way through the game.
Where to Find Deltarune Save File Location
The Windows ‘Run’ Command Is Your Friend
This App Data\Local directory was where my save file was when playing the game on Steam, and it was named filech2_0. If you have multiple save files, filech2_1 is actually save file 2 in the game, and filech2_2 is save file three, and so on.
When you’ve found this file, you can delete it if you want to erase your progress, or you can copy it onto a new drive or system if you want to continue with your save file for Chapters 3, 4, and beyond. The main thing to remember if you’re copying your save file to a new system is to put it back in the same file path. Dropping it anywhere on your PC isn’t going to work.
TheSteam userwho shared the Linux save file location noted that the file path might be different depending on how you’ve configured Proton on your system.
How to Save in Deltarune
Another Save Point System
Deltarune’ssaving system works similar to the one inUndertale. You’ll need to find save points dotted throughout the game. These are white cross-shaped icons with a pale blue outline and allow you to not only save your progress throughout the game, but also replenish your party’s health. In Chapter 2, they grant access to the Recruits and Storage menus, too.
Unfortunately,Deltarunedoesn’t have an autosave option, so you’ll need tomake sure that you’re using these save pointswhenever you come across them.Deltarunecan be a very confusing game. This is especially true for those who haven’t playedUndertale,so only being able to save at certain points can be frustrating if players just want to stop playing but haven’t reached another save point for a while.
The multiple save slots can be used to go back to earlier points in the game tofind secret bosses or routes, or for different playthroughs, such as doing a pacifist run or experiencing the weird route.
