Ever since Momo and Okarun crossed paths with each other, they have been inseparable. Although they fight frequently over every other issue, the duo can barely stay away from one another. Interestingly, when they first met, their worlds couldn’t have been further apart. Okarun was an introverted otaku who was bullied to the point that he gave up on finding friends and hoped that he would befriend aliens instead. Meanwhile,Momo was popular enoughto have quite a few friends and was so daring that she could confront bullies for a stranger.

It was Momo’s bravery that created the circumstancesfor her friendship with Okarun. The duo has since embarked on several adventures and battled supernatural threats, growing into a better version of themselves in the process. While they still remain friends, it is strongly hinted in several instances that the duo might have feelings for one another.
Momo was clearly jealous of Airaever since she saw her with Okarun after the latter fell over the former during a lunch break. It was evident that the threat that Ken would fall for Shiratori bothered her to the point that she even started avoiding him. Interestingly, this feeling was not one-sided. Okarun was also just as jealous when Momo’s childhood friends walked back into her life out of nowhere.
When Seiko informed Okarun thatJiji was also Momo’s first crush, it made him visibly shocked. He initially struggled to make sense of his emotions, but when he saw Taro propose to Hana, he couldn’t help but think about Momo in the same light, and suddenly everything made sense. Okarun realized that he might be in love. Although the duo is far from ready to open up about their feelings to each other, it’s hard to overlook the fact that their relationship is evolving into something more than just friendship.

Momo and Okarun are still in the early stagesof developing a bond that goes beyond friendship. So, they are sometimes quite insecure about one another and seem to dread the possibility that the other might develop feelings for someone else. In Aira and Jiji’s case, they both showed visible signs of possessiveness, that later made them introspect about their feelings.
While they have already had their fair share of jealousy-driven misunderstandings, things are only going to get complicated in the upcoming season of the show. Until now, most of their jealousy has been caused by their overthinking and lack of communication but it won’t be the same this time.An alien named Bamorawill arrive on Earth in search of an ideal person to be her husband. From her naive perspective, a worthy husband will be someone who can defeat her in battle.
Driven by her desire to find love, she will attack quite a few men to test if they are capable of being her partner. Bamora’s search and a series of unrelated events will push her up against Momo and Okarun’s group. Following an intense battle, she comes to the conclusion that Ken is the right man for her and chooses her as her husband. After arriving on Earth, Bamora has noticed couples kiss each other to express their love. In her naivety, she will try to claim Okarun by kissing him right in front of Momo.
Aira has already shown interest in Okarun. She even fantasizes about going on a date with him and frequently tries to prove herself to be the ideal companion for him. With Bamora’s entry, the situation is bound to get complicated as Momo already has a hard time dealing withAira’s flirtatious attempts to woo Ken. It would be interesting to see, how she will deal with the growing tension and emotional chaos without coming off as insecure or jealous.

Since Momo is generally quite a strong and assertive person, things might be more fun than tense. Only time will tell how the dynamics will change with Bamora’s arrival, but it’s almost guaranteed at this point that Dandadan season 2 willspark a battle for Okarun’s heart.
