Summary
SomeCyberpunk 2077fans believe a second DLC could be in active development after one individual discovered new information on a developer’s LinkedIn page. While CD Projekt Red is the main development team forCyberpunk 2077, the Polish-based studio recently partnered with Virtuos to assist in the development of update 2.2, which brought some brand new features to the hit RPG. But now some users are speculating that Virtuos could be actively developing more content forCyberpunk 2077.
After a controversial launch in 2020, CD Projekt Red regained the trust of fans by commiting itself to updatingCyberpunk 2077with signficiant improvements, new features, and content. The RPG is now considered an all-time great by some fans, with a “very positive” rating on Steam with almost 750,000 reviews. The studio went on to receive even more praise from fans when it released thecritically acclaimedPhantom LibertyDLC forCyberpunk 2077. While CD Projekt Red has reiterated numerous times thatPhantom Libertywill be the one and only DLC expansion forCyberpunk 2077, some fans don’t seem to be convinced after new evidence was recently discovered.
Cyberpunk 2077 Fans Speculate on Second DLC
In December 2024, development studio Virtuos assited with upgrading and reworking the UI forCyberpunk 2077’s 2.2 update. Now, some are speculating that the studio is continuing to work on the title due to information discovered on a developer’s LinkedIn page. As spotted by Reddit user Free_Carpenter151, a senior writer for Virtuos has listedCyberpunk 2077DLC under their experience, but the developer only seems to have joined Virtuos in April 2025, two years afterPhantom Liberty’s release. The developer states that they “analyzed existingCyberpunk 2077character voices to inform writing their dialogue in multiple new side quests” and “coordinated with the narrative designer to conceive, write, and polish side quests for upcoming DLC releases.”
The Virtuos writer has since gone on to remove the information from their LinkedIn page, which now simply states that they have “written content for various projects.” While some have taken this as a sign that CD Projekt Red has outsourced development of asecondCyberpunk 2077DLCto a different studio, there is a slim chance that any new content for the RPG is on the same scale asPhantom Liberty. CD Projekt Red has repeatedly said that it won’t be releasing another DLC forCyberpunk 2077, so any content for the title will likely just be some minor new gameplay features or, at best, a small new side-quest.
While anotherPhantom Liberty-sized DLC is incredibly unlikely, CD Projekt Red has surprised fans multiple times in the past. Just as fans begin to thinkCyberpunk 2077is finished, the studio goes and releases one more update to keep players coming back for more. Although there are no confirmed new updates as of yet, fans were left surprised once again earlier this year when the studio confirmed thatCyberpunk 2077will be a Nintendo Switch 2 launch title. The RPG will be available on June 5, the same day that the console launches.
