Wylder is a standard fighter inElden Ring Nightreignthat almost every Soulsborne player will find him a balanced choice, which is the reason why he is the first character players get acquainted with in the game, before they learn about changing characters.
Similar to all other Nightfarers, Wylder also has his own Remembrance questline, allowing him to travel back in time and relive some of his memories. These quests will shed some more light on the origin of Roundtable Hold and the people who have gathered there to defeat the Nightlords. Wylder’s questline, specifically, will reveal some valuable info about the Priestess, the mysterious character inNightreignthat seems to have more knowledge about the situation than anyone else.
Requirements: The Journal And Memory Fragments
Players will first need to unlock the journal to access each character’s Remembrance questline. The journal will be available automatically after completing the tutorial, whether you win or lose the initial fight. The journal will be located inside the room next to the Character Selection altar. The first chapter for each character’s questline is unlocked by default, but expanding the journal and progressing into the following chapters requires the player to earn memory fragments.
Completing an expedition successfully anddefeating the Nightlordin the endguarantees a memory fragment dropwhen playing as Wylder. However, even if you fail during an expedition, you may still get a memory fragment in the earlier chapters of the questline.
You will never know if you have earned a memory fragment during the expedition. It is only revealed after you return to Roundtable Hold. If you get a"Memory Fragment Found"prompt in the bottom right corner of the screen, that means a new chapter should be available in the corresponding character’s journal.
Wylder’s Remembrance Questline
Chapter 3
Once you earn the first memory fragment withWylder, his journal will be updated with Chapters 2 and 3, and the latter offers a remembrance that you can relive. So, begin the remembrance to respawn at Roundtable Hold within a new timeline.
Speak withIron Menialin the room behind the journal’s room, and reply to him with"Understood". You are now tasked with finding a whetstone. So, launch any of the expeditions and head to the game’s world. Upon landing, your map will be updated withan orange marker, showcasing the location of the personal objective.
The whetstone is located inside a cave. Thus, you will get two orange markers, showing both entry points of the cave. Keep in mind thata mandatory boss awaitsinside the cave. So, do some leveling up if you feel weak before entering the cave. Once inside the cave, open the map and switch the layers to locate the exact location of the whetsone. Before you can lay your hands on the item, you must defeat aTunnel Crystalian. This could be a tough fight, as the area is quite tight and the enemy moves around pretty quickly. However, Wylder’s ultimate can come in handy.
You mustunlock Duchessas a playable character before you can make further progress in the questline of Wylder.
Once you defeat the boss, pick up thewhetstone, and the rest of the expedition doesn’t matter. So, if you just want to make progress in the questline, fail the boss in the expedition to return to the Roundtable Hold. Keep in mind that even successfully completing this expedition will not grant a memory fragment, as this is an expedition inside a remembrance.
Talk toIron Menialafter returning to Roundtable Hold, and he will offer three items to you: 2x Delicate Burning Scene relics and one Mended Earring.Pick up all of them. The Mended Earring belongs to theDuchess/Priestess, but before returning it to her, you should pass light through the earring. So,head to the room at the end of the same corridor where Iron Menial is located. You will spot a beam of light at the far corner of the room. Interact with the light to advance in the questline.
Now, speak with the Duchess/Priestess at the main hall andreturn the earring to her. A spell gate will open up next to the Duchess to conclude this chapter. After coming back to the present, you will get theSlate Whetstone relicas a reward.
Chapter 5
Completing Chapter 3 will automatically unlock Chapter 5 with no need for an extra memory fragment. So, launch the remembrance of Chapter 5 to further advance in Wylder’s questline.
After respawning, head tothe room where the merchant Jar is located. There arethree lettersin the room that you should read, all of them highlighted by glowing silver light. After you read all three letters, a door will unlock somewhere in the building, allowing access to a secret room.
In the same room, there is a staircasethat goes all the way down beneath the building. Once you reach the bottom of the stairs, turn around, and you will spot another staircase leading even deeper beneath the ground. This will take you to the secret room, but before entering the room, you will spot a small chest at the foot of the staircase. Just remember its location for the future, and for now, speak withIron Menialinside the secret room. There are alsothree interactable stonesin the secret room that are worth looking into.
It’s time to speak with the Duchess/Priestess now.You will find her on the shoreline. Speak with her and then conclude the remembrance. Upon returning to the present, you will getWylder’s Chaliceas a reward.
Chapter 7
Completing Chapter 5 will unlock Chapter 6, but the next remembrance quest will be available in Chapter 7. So, you need to obtain one last memory fragment for Wylder. Embark on an expedition and try to defeat a Nightlord to guarantee a fragment drop.
Once you have the memory fragment, begin the Chapter 7 remembrance. After respawning, you will find yourself in front of a table witha letter on it. Read the letter, and it will grant you a key. This isthe key that will unlock the chest located next to the entry to the secret roomwe visited earlier. So, head downstairs again and open the chest to retrieve an item from it.
Now, get to the merchant Jar’s room andspeak with Recluse. Reply to her with"It does", and once the conversation ends, talk to her again. Now, speak withIron Menial. He is standing next to the Relic Rite in the main hall. This time around, he will task you to obtain a Silver Tear. So, launch a new expedition and head to the orange marker on the map.
The path to the quest objective could be a little bit complicated and full of enemies. So, it’s best to gain a few levels before entering the castle. The Silver Tear is guarded by aMimic Troll. Don’t let the giant size of the troll get you worried, as this is a fairly easy fight. Knowing how slow the troll is, you’re able to easily dodge his attacks and land your hits. Just verify not to stand around his feet.
After beating Mimic Troll, get theSilver Tearand return to the Roundtable Hold. For one last time, talk toIron Menialat his default room and conclude the remembrance afterwards.
This will put an end to Wylder’s questline, granting you hisRemembrance skinas well as theSilver Tear relic.
