These mistakes to avoid inDune: Awakeningmay be common among survival games or MMOs, and in other cases, they are completely unique to the dangers of Arrakis. By being aware of these pitfalls and learning alternative solutions, players should have a much better time and not loseany gear.

Dying in Dune Awakening can be costly, more so if you don’t have a place respawn beacon

8Not Taking Notice Of Storm Warnings

These Are Incredibly Dangerous & Players Should Seek Shelter Immediately

Every so often, players will hear warnings that a storm is on the way, and it can be easy to put these off for a few minutes or ignore the warning completely. However, these storms should not be taken lightly, and players should immediately stop what they are doing and seek shelter.

This doesn’t always meanreturning to baseor finding another building, as caves are just as good, and even finding a limited shelter next to some rocks can be better than nothing. A player’s sheltered status is stated in the bottom left. If players make the mistake of being caught in a storm, they will lose all their health, and while it’s possible to self-revive, they will go through all their healing consumables to get back to 100% HP. Also, ensure any vehicles are safe from the storm, too. Later on, players can craft Stilltents.

Sandbike Wreckage Dune Awakening

7Leaving Vehicles Outside, Especially When Logging Off

Wrecked Vehicles Can Never Be Driven Again

One of the biggest mistakes players can make inDune: Awakeningis leaving vehicles outside. Under the scorching sun, vehicles will take consistent damage, most of which can thankfully berepaired using a Welding Torch. In storms, however, vehicles will take even more damage.

While this won’t be too costly in the short run, if players log out with their vehicle exposed, forgetting that the world is persistent and forever online, they may return to find it completely wrecked. For this reason, players will want to build a garage as part of their base, and when exploring, they should try to parktheir Sandbikeor other vehicles under some cover or in caves. Even better is the Vehicle Backup Tool, which allows players to store their vehicle as a scan and deploy it whenever and almost wherever they like. Use this when exploring, especially to avoid storms.

Base Blocking a PoI in Dune Awakening

6Abandoning Your First Base Without Transporting Your Goods

Don’t Feel Rushed & Feel Free To Explore More Of Hagga Basin

As part of the main quest line, which players should follow, they will eventually be told to travel across the open dunes to the Vermillius Gap on their Sandbike. Here, they will build a new base and beasked to abandon their previous baseusing the menu. However, before taking this trip, players should try to take as many resources and tools with them as possible.

Consider upgrading the Sandbike with an inventory to transport even more goods to the new region. Players shouldn’t feel rushed to abandon their base, especially if they have more to explore and complete in Hagga Basin. Feel free to return and stock up on more resources and bring over spare gear. Formally abandoning the base will allow other players in, who may take these resources.

Dune Awakening healkit

5Not Crafting Enough Healing Consumables Before Setting Off

The Game Cannot Be Paused To Do This Mid-Fight

For better or worse,Dune: Awakeningis not a single-player game where players can pause mid-fight and craft more consumables. Don’t make the mistake of forgetting to craft or loot healing consumables before heading into any dangerous situation, as there will be no time during a fight to rectify this, even if players have the correct resources.

The basic Healkit is simply made out of Fiber, which can be easily found everywhere. Stock up on this, craft plenty, and then make sure the Healkits are equipped for quick access. This isn’t just important for combat, but survival too, as there’sfall damage, dehydration, and storms to worry about.

Dune Awakening - Refuel Sandbike

4Not Refueling Vehicles Before Crossing The Open Sand

This Can Leave You Stranded As Easy Prey For A Sandworm

Vehicles such as Sandbikes require fuel in the form of Fuel Cells, which can be crafted in a Chemical Refinery. While driving, players will see the fuel levels in the bottom right corner and receive warnings when they are running low.

However, players should not make the mistake of aiming for full efficiency and only refueling when they reach zero. There are too many dangers on Arrakis not to fuel up sooner. The worst-case scenario would be driving across the open dunes and running out of fuel, as a Sandworm would come along and eat both the player and their vehicle.Dying to a Sandwormmeans losing all equipment and backpack items permanently.

Dune Awakening - Ship Wreck PvP

3Don’t Accidentally Wander Into The Few PvP Zones

Downed Ships Have Green Icons On The Map

Players wary of PvP inDune: Awakeningshouldn’t be too worried, as the game is almost entirely PvE. Aside from the late-game Deep Desert region, the only other PvP spots are downed ships, marked with green indicators on the map. Here, players will find plenty of machinery for crafting, but everything can still be found elsewhere.

Upon arriving at one of these locations, players will be told at the top of the screen that their region is changing in 5 seconds. On completion, it will state they are in a PvP zone, and the bar at the top will be red. However, while this is fairly clear, it’s also possible for beginners to miss this message with so much else to concentrate on in the game. While thedeath penalty in PvPisn’t too bad, players will lose their current resources, which could be tragic if they are carrying a lot. When visiting a PvP zone, try to carry as few resources as possible.

Dune Awakening ornithopter landing

2Don’t Think You’re Invincible In An Ornithopter

Sandworms & Storms Are Still Dangerous

When players finally get their first flying vehicle inDune: Awakening, an Ornithopter, they may feel invincible, no longer having to worry about threats on the ground. However, this is not entirely true. For example, an Ornithopter makes a ton of vibrations, which will attract Sandworms.

If players fly too low, this can result in the Sandworm surging out of the sand and eating them and their Ornithopter. Additionally, storms are incredibly dangerous for Ornithopters, and they will almost certainly crash to the ground, possibly onto the open sands or an enemy camp.

1Don’t Explore During The Day

The Sun Is Too Punishing

In many games, the daytime is often safe, but players will need to switch their thinking inDune: Awakening. While it’s perfectly possible to explore during the day, this can be a mistake. Aside from sunstroke and possible vehicle damage, the main problem that players may not realize is that their hydration levels will decrease at a faster rate when out in the sun.

Withwater being essential for hydrationand some crafting, players should consider managing their base, clearing caves, and visiting settlements during the day, while leaving outside exploration for night. Even building out in the sun isn’t recommended. If players are out in the day, they can at least try to stick to the shadows.
