WhileMario Kart Worldis set to be extremely ambitious with new tracks that are larger than ever thanks to a growing roster of characters, it’s hard to say no to a few classics.Mario Kartloves adding classic tracks to the roster of cups, and it would be a shame ifMario Kart Worlddidn’t follow the trend by allowing players to race on some of the best tracks that the series has to offer.
While there is going to be countless tracks inMario Kart World, fans can indulge in the desire for more at the request of these fan favorites and classics tracks that deserve to return in some capacity after years of absence from the series.
8Delfino Square
A Village Plaza With Tight Alleyways and Cheery Piantas
Delfino Square is one of the easiest tracks inMario Karthistory, which is part of the reason it’s so fun. It’s simplistic, but not without its reward for skill, thanks to the tight alleyways throughout the plaza that will have players drifting into first place. It’s impressive with its celebration of Piantas, so a return inMario Kart Worldcould provide even more life to Delfino Square, especially with the beauty of its island resort as players race through a boosting drawbridge to hit the finish line.
7Waluigi Pinball
A Colorful Frenzy of Bumpers and Obstacles
Few tracks are as bright and colorful as Waluigi Pinball, a track where players must race through an expansive pinball stadium, avoiding railings, pinballs, and bumpers alike. The track will happily have players bouncing around and hitting into things if they are not careful, and that’s something that could truly benefit from more players withMario Kart World. Taking sharp turns and avoiding frenzied pinballs is a blast, especially when the risk involved means more items that might justpropel players into first place.
6Bowser Castle (DS)
A Difficult Track That Only Has One Appearance
It’s no surprise that Bowser Castle (DS) has been relegated to theMario Kart DSrealm, where its only appearance from the 2005 game keeps this difficult course steady. There are plenty of obstacles in this version of Bowser’s Castle, and the constantly moving platforms will do their best to deter player progress and send them into the scorching lava below. What makes this track one that deserves to return isn’t just due to how long it’s been absent for, but due tohow fun it can bewith its punishing set of traps laid out to ensure everyone has a bad time.
5Mushroom City
An Expansive Night Time City With Cars for Obstacles
Driving through a busy city can be a stressful time, andMario Karttakes it to the next level by making sure that the roads have no rules, especially in Mushroom City. With branching pathways and plenty of vehicles on the road to cause traffic and obstacles, Mushroom City becomes a beautiful and chaotic time for all, one where players are bound to hit something while they admire the midnight glow of headlights and street lamps. Plenty of hazards and switching lanes are bound to make for a fun race, where every go at Mushroom City willdiffer from the last.
4DK Mountain
Scale a Large Mountain Full of Boulders, Twisting Turns, and a Doom Bridge
DK Mountain has not been forgotten by Nintendo. In fact, it has around 4 appearances in the series, and for good reason. DK Mountain is a lot of fun, and while for the most part, the track seems simple enough and with plenty of space for every racer, things will surely get hectic as players try to cross the rickety bridge to the finish line, where a single knock from another kart means death. DK Mountain isa lot of fun to traverse, and with so many more players inMario Kart World, the chaos is about to get even more serious.
3Baby Park
An 8-Lap Extraveganza
If there is any map that encapsulates the mayhem ofMario Kart, it’s Baby Park. While the series has not been void of Baby Park for long, it’s inevitable that this course returns triumphantly.Mario Kart Worldhas so many racers, so to throw them all onto an oval shape with no obstacles in their way, and just item boxes to ensure that they are in constant battle for 8 laps, is going to be a real treat. Baby Park needs to come back because it’sshort, sweet, and so much fun.
2Big Blue
One Giant Lap to Rule Them All
Big Blue is one of the newer courses toMario Kartand easily one of the strongest contenders to get a spot onMario Kart World. Big Blue starts a trend alongside other maps where it’s so long that it’s just one lap, meaning if players miss a shortcut, then there’s no redo. With plenty of fast pads to increase the speed of players, and so many tight turns that falling off the edge is inevitable for unskilled players, Big Blue will have players traveling atspeeds like no other, which in a track with so many other racers, could create one of the best experiences to come out ofMario Kart World.
While Rainbow Road is infamous for its tricky turns and inevitable falls off the map into space, the 3DS variant of Rainbow Road does things a little differently by allowing players to fall early onto the moon, where they can off-road race to the finish line and get back on the track. The division of this Rainbow Road allows all racers to engage, and while it is inevitable that one might fall, it’s a lot more forgiving, especially with the thrilling low-gravity mechanics that willhave players bouncing aroundfor one small step for Mario.
