Summary
Sandfall Interactive reveals plans to hopefully add a dedicated photo mode toClair Obscur Expedition 33at somepoint in the near future. As a debut game from a new studio,Clair Obscur Expedition 33has easily surpassed all expectations for the studio both in terms of sales and reception.
Set within the “AA” space,Clair Obscur Expedition 33has already passed massive sales milestones, including selling 3.3 million copies in just 33 days. The success has even caught the attention of French President Emmanuel Macron, calling it a “shining example of French audacity and creativity.” While it’s likely that the developers at Sandfall didn’t expect this level of success, the studio is continuing to look at ways to keep the momentum going, even addressing one highly requested feature.
In a recent appearance onFinal Fantasy Union YouTube channel, art director Nicholas Maxon answered a specific question about the possibility of adding a Photo Mode toClair Obscur Expedition 33.Post-launch DLC plans forExpedition 33have been a hot topic as of late, with a photo mode being high in demand as well. In addition to fans requesting it, Maxon admitted that the feature is also high on the studio wishlist as well. However, he also revealed that adding such a feature is more work than some other things, but it’s something the studio would absolutely like to do down the road.
Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Could Get a Photo Mode
While a Photo Mode could eventually happen, Maxon confirmed that the studio’s immediate focus remains on fixing the remaining bugs within the game while also continuing to make quality of life improvements. One specific example Maxon was able to provide was regardingExpedition 33’s Lumina loadouts, hinting that changes could make this feature better to use, though he wouldn’t comment on a timeframe.
Following the game’s success, Sandfall Interactive continues to double down on a resurgence of AA-style video games. In fact, Sandfall Interactive’s portfolio director, Matthew Handrahan, indicated that part ofExpedition 33’s success likely comes down to how focused it is, respecting the player’s time by not adding bloat or extra content. Handrahan also admitted that more games could learn this lesson, as “brevity should be more of a virtue in gaming.”
