The Chicago Med Season 10 Finale Will Feature An Emotional Storyline About Dr. Daniel Charles

In an interview withTV Line, showrunner Allen MacDonald mentioned what fans can expect from theChicago Medseason 10 finale. MacDonald saidDr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) will be at the center of the episode as his daughter Anna (Hannah Riley) has been hospitalized after a car accident. MacDonald said the storyline is:

“going to bring up a lot of family history issues between him and his daughter.”

Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell) and Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) on Chicago Med

MacDonald continued:

“Charles is lonely, and he’s a great psychiatrist, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he is good about his own life and the people in his life. I think he’s made a lot of mistakes, and I think he knows that. … So the idea [for] the end of the season is for him to go to the ultimate source of the well of pain for most people, which is family history, and force him to deal with it, and the accident with Anna is part of that.”

Dr. Charles’s scenes withhis daughters Robin (Mekia Cox)and Anna are some of his best and most endearing, even though he hasn’t been a perfect parent. While no one wants to see Robin or Anna in danger,it was the right choice to feature Dr. Charles so prominently in theChicago Medseason 10 finale. In the past, Charles struggled to find the right thing to say to Anna, who had typical teen drama storylines involving her dating and school lives. Most notably, Anna goes through a difficult moment in her personal life, and Dr. Charles supports her. After this, they get much closer, and Dr. Charles is definitely going to be devastated by his daughter’s accident.

Dr. Charles is a perfect example of a typicalChicago Medmain character:he’s proud and confident when it comes to his medical career, but he has a hard time with his personal life.Chicago Medseason 10 has done a great job examining Dr. Charles’s relationship with his various family members. Atthe end of season 10, episode 21, “The Invisible Hand,“he loses his mom, and in the next episode, he has to come to terms with never being able to find the right words to say to her.

ThroughoutChicago Medseason 10, viewers realize that Dr. Charles has a lot of baggage with his own mother, who often treated him coldly instead of showing him the support that he wanted and needed. This informed his own parenting decisions, and he feels even guiltier that he has made so many mistakes. Now that Anna is in trouble, it looks like he will have to face these issues, and they will most likely have a tough and honest conversation by the end of the episode. It’s a complicated time in Anna’s life as she recently revealed she dropped out of college, and the season 10 finale will likely be as exciting and memorable as fans expect.

The Chicago Med Season 10 Finale Will Also Feature A Memorable Hannah Asher Storyline

Atthe end ofChicago Medseason 10, episode 21, “Baby Mine…“Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) finds out she’s pregnant. The season 10 finale will pick up where this plotline left off and explore this more.

In an interview withTV Insider, Allen MacDonald said, “I have very little to say about the father’s identity.” He continued, “I don’t think she’s happy or unhappy. I think she’s stunned. I think she’s shocked.” MacDonald also noted that when Hannah lets her sister Lizzie know that she can’t be her surrogate because of her own pregnancy, “it does not go well.”

When the final episode of this unforgettable season ofthis popular doctor dramaairs on Wednesday May 21st, 2025, fans will hopefully get an answer about who the father of Hannah’s baby is, and hopefully, Dr. Charles’s daughter Anna will be okay.
